As a Project Engineer you will lead the development and execution of capital projects as well as support plant engineering needs, mainly in the biggest Process Cheese Plant in Germany, but also could be in the UK and South Africa facilities. You will develop and lead project teams which may include internal partners, outside engineering resources, suppliers, contractors and regulatory personnel. You will work with a variety of departments to develop business propositions and executive summaries for capital projects which drive and increase in company value. This position is key in Europe to maintain our leadership, including the implementation of new technologies, help with the digital transformation and also included sustainable long lasting solutions.
Role & Responsibilities:
Ensuring compliance with safety, sanitation, and government regulations
Leading project team members through the execution of capital projects with the objective of meeting the project success criteria
Providing clear communication and direction to project team members and updates to project stakeholders
Providing guidance with the development of specifications, capital equipment, and the selection of vendors and contractors
Providing technical advice and assistance as required to sustain production capacity and capabilities
Assisting in cross-training efforts to help develop partner’s skills in other functional areas of engineering (i.e. Utilizing “EPM” Enterprise Project Management tools)
Working with cross functional teams to develop business propositions and executive summaries which support company growth and profitability
Investigate, evaluate and implement new or improved technology/methods that may improve capability, capacity and overall profitability
Assist the plant team leadership with requests as required (upper management meetings, personnel, technical reviews, lead engineering sessions, advisory help, customer visits, etc.)
Project management tasks include: analysis and study of the project; creation of specifications; planning GANT; consultation of companies; choice of technical solutions in line with the requirements of the various departments in the Division; negotiations with external companies for the budget; management of subcontracting companies and works; management; industrial testings; and, commercialization
Key Ingredients
Bachelor's in Engineering, Dairy/Food Science or related fields
6+ years of experience in Engineering, Maintenance, preferably in Food Manufacturing
Fluency in German and English. Other languages will be considered as a plus
Proven leadership and influence in cross-functional settings
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Proven troubleshooting and leadership of technical personnel. Results oriented, certain knowledge in sanitarian equipment and plant design
Technical knowledge of processes, equipment and utilities (electricity, automation, refrigeration, air, steam, fluid mechanics, etc.)
Stay on top of technology developments
P&ID creation and reading skills are mandatory. Experience in leading projects and project management, ability to function in a team environment, end-user computer skills and desire to grow and take on new challenges and opportunities are also expected
