Vast is seeking a Project Engineer, Operations, reporting to the Director of Operations, to support the development of our factory and test infrastructure. These facilities will play a key role in the design and build of artificial-gravity, human-rated space stations. This role will directly support production teams by enabling the use of specialized equipment and machinery needed to complete the company’s mission.
This will be a full-time, exempt position located in our Long Beach headquarters with extensive travel to Mojave test site.
Responsibilities:
- Support all aspects of project implementation as needed
- Participate in meetings and presentations with executive leadership
- Create scopes of work and obtain competitive bids from multiple contractors
- Conduct job walk-downs with vendors, engineers, and internal stakeholders
- Coordinate with the purchasing team to ensure vendors are approved, vetted, and insured
- Review technical plans and documents
- Respond to questions regarding project scope, schedule, and deliverables
- Monitor project costs and timelines
- Manage and maintain all project documentation
- Create, manage, and track RFIs (Requests for Information)
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline
- Ability to read and interpret technical plans and specifications
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Experience working in facilities or infrastructure within the aerospace industry
- Familiarity with space planning procedures and facility operations
- Strong computer proficiency with the ability to navigate various software tools
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) for collaborating with internal teams, vendors, and contractors
- Strategic and logical approach to problem-solving
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions with limited information
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Comfortable adapting to fast-changing environments and priorities
Additional Requirements:
- Willingness to work overtime or weekends to support key project milestones
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted
- Must be able to travel to Mojave facilities approximately 3x per week, or as needed to support testing infrastructure
Pay Range:
- Project Engineer II - $112,000 - $137,000
- Senior Project Engineer - $130,000 - $159,000
