Build Marine Projects Where the Work Actually Happens

Orion is hiring a Project Engineer to help deliver marine construction projects across the Atlantic Division. You’ll work on site with the Project Manager, superintendents, foremen, and surveyors to coordinate the schedule, procurement, and costs that keep crews moving. You’ll see projects through from mobilization to closeout.

Orion builds on, over, and under the water. Our work includes ports, docks, bridges, causeways, mechanical dredging, and other waterfront infrastructure. Our teams are guided by Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Teamwork, built on a foundation of Integrity.

What You’ll Do
  • Track actual costs for labor, materials, and services, and help estimate the cost of remaining work.

  • Prepare subcontractor bid packages, evaluate suppliers, and procure subcontractors, materials, and services.

  • Interpret plans and specifications and coordinate work activities with field leadership to meet schedule milestones.

  • Work with crews, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients to resolve questions and keep work moving.

  • Support bid proposals for upcoming marine work and help bring active projects through closeout.

  • Reinforce safe work practices, support safety and environmental compliance, and stop work when unsafe conditions are observed or anticipated.

What You’ll Need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent work experience.

  • Approximately 3–5 years of relevant project engineering or construction experience.

  • Working knowledge of project administration, marine construction materials, procurement, estimating, scheduling, project tracking software, and cost control.

  • Familiarity with engineering and project standards, safety practices, and environmental compliance.

  • Ability to communicate clearly with field teams, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.

  • Ability to drive a passenger vehicle to job sites, travel up to 100%, and work the project rotation.

Preferred experience includes hands-on marine construction work, including a summer internship or engineering co-op.

Jobsite Requirements

You must be able to perform the essential functions of the role with or without reasonable accommodation. Field work includes wearing required PPE, safely accessing docks, barges, boats, and vessels, and responding appropriately in emergencies. The role may involve walking, climbing, standing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, or sitting for extended periods, lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds, and working outdoors in changing temperatures and weather.

Compensation and Benefits

Orion’s salaried employee benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, an Employee Assistance Program, company-paid life and AD&D insurance, and company-paid short-term and long-term disability coverage.

Additional benefits include a Fidelity 401(k) with Safe Harbor Match, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off, nine paid public holidays, volunteer time off, tuition reimbursement, an employee referral program, employee discounts, and wellness programs. Benefits are subject to applicable plan documents and eligibility requirements.
