What this job involves

As a Project Engineer, you provide critical, day-to-day support to the Preconstruction Manager, Construction Manager, and Superintendent — administering documentation, maintaining logs, and coordinating field-to-office communication under the direction of the project team, while independently owning specific workstreams.

What your day-to-day will look like
  • Maintain and age the RFI log and submittal register, routing items for Construction Manager and Project Manager review and closure.
  • Manage construction management technology, ensure all project based tasks are up to date and accurate.
  • Support bid package assembly for the Preconstruction Manager: compile scopes of work, bid-form documents, and bid-leveling spreadsheets.
  • Track designer, vendor, and consultant purchase orders and help maintain the procurement and long-lead log.
  • Prepare and distribute two-week look-ahead and weekly report drafts for Construction Manager and Superintendent review.
  • Support daily field reporting: compile manpower logs, site photos, and visitor logs for the Superintendent.
  • Assist with PCCO assembly and change order documentation.
  • Coordinate AHJ permitting submissions and inspection scheduling.
  • Support BIM/CAD coordination and clash tracking.
  • Maintain the punchlist log from Substantial Completion through Final Completion and track items to zero.
  • Assist with closeout package assembly: as-builts, O&Ms, warranties, training records, and attic stock log.
  • Support collection of vendor invoices and cost reconciliation documentation.
  • Assist in coordinating FF&E, client fit-up, and relocation logistics.

Required qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in project coordination, project engineering, or a similar support role in commercial construction, with demonstrated ability to independently manage assigned tasks.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills; ability to prioritize across multiple workstreams and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in project and construction management technology (e.g., e-Builder, Procore, MS Project).
  • Working knowledge of RFI, submittal, and change order processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to produce documentation ready for CM/PM review without a rewrite.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously on assigned project components while maintaining accountability for deliverables.

Preferred qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Experience with construction management technology for daily reports, RFIs, submittals, or punch tracking.
  • Exposure to estimating or bid-leveling technology.
  • CAPM, PMP, or equivalent certification in progress or completed.
  • Experience in mission-critical, workplace, or landlord-controlled environments.
