Reporting to the Manager, Residential New Product Development, the Project Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing engineering projects from conception to completion. The ideal candidate combines technical, critical thinking and project management skills, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with business objectives.  This candidate will also engage with cross-functional teams, including labs and manufacturing plants, to meet product scope and timing requirements.

You facilitate an open dialogue with a wide variety of contributors and stakeholders.

As a Project Engineer you will:

  • Execute product development of fixed speed residential scroll compressors from early prototyping to final release.

  • Utilize company specific analytical tools to optimize products and components to meet performance and reliability standards

  • Collaborate with designers, advanced manufacturing engineering, and other technical experts to understand design challenges and ensure we meet product requirements

  • Use DFMEA to understand technical risks and drive qualification plans

  • Develop and manage project technical timelines, milestones, and deliverables

  • Collaborate with cross-functional & global teams to develop and release products

  • Coordinate prototyping, testing, and validation activities

  • Ensure adherence to engineering standards, quality requirements, and regulatory compliance

  • Support internal/external customers by presenting technical data and project updates.

  • Communicate effectively to all levels of the organization

  • Apply and support the incorporation of Lean principles and techniques into the New Product Development process.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability and desire to solve technical problems using structured problem-solving methods

  • Experience with scroll compressor design and development

  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics and heat transfer

  • Strong understanding of HVAC principles

  • Works effectively in a collaborative team environment.

  • Ability to quickly understand and organize information necessary to make engineering decisions Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering/Engineering Technology or equivalent. 

  • 1-5+ years’ experience with new product development through a systematic product release process
