The Glen at Heather Farm, located in Walnut Creek, California is seeking a Project Engineer. The Project Engineer oversees field work, manages project documents, reviews change orders, and supports budget tracking and invoicing.
The Glen at Heather Farm will be a Life Plan Community, sometimes referred to as a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), which will have common areas including a clubhouse and 486 residences, as well as an adjacent health center.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
- Field Management. Monitor work advancing in the field and ensure accuracy against all project documents and schedules. Develop familiarity with company design standards to track conformance in design & construction. Interact and collaborate with various general contractor, design, inspection, and management partners.
- Document Management. Responsible for maintaining, organizing, and filing all project documents. Ability to interpret construction documents. Understand and support RFI, submittal, design change, and change order documents throughout the life of a project.
- Contract Change Orders. Receive, organize, and understand all change orders. Assist the development team by performing an initial review of all change orders and report to project leadership. This may involve field walks to observe work in place, plan/spec and/or contract review to confirm a change order is warranted, reviewing old emails, etc. Facilitate a team change order meeting as needed to make final change order decisions.
- Maintain Budget / Cost Projections / Invoicing. Perform a line-by-line monthly budget review with the project leadership and cost teams. Responsible for working with the cost team to receive and process all project invoices and payment applications.
- Project Technology. Familiarity and proficiency with software such as Bluebeam, ACC, BIM360, Procore, Plangrid, and Microsoft Suite (Teams, Excel, Outlook, Sharepoint). This is a very useful communication tool to contractors, staff, and future residents.
- Punchlist Process. Responsible for participating in and coordinating the project punch list process. This will require extensive time onsite, in the field, to manage. Utilize Ops staff but lead the effort.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior significant experience in Skilled Nursing, Senior Living, large Multi-Family facilities or similar commercial realm.
- Associate or Bachelors Degree in construction management or related field or equivalent combination of training and significant experience
- Strong organizational, project management, scheduling and planning skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Computer proficient using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Blue Beam, Primavera, & Autodesk Cloud
- Analytical and mathematical skills
- Problem solving & technical skills for document, submittal & RFI reviews
- Ability to work on a team & a passion for giving excellent customer service.
