About the role

We’re looking for a Project Engineer to join our Rolleston project, helping deliver the new flyover bridge and the structural works that will shape this major piece of infrastructure.

This is a hands-on, site-based role for someone who’s already confident operating at Project Engineer level and ready to take ownership of key work fronts across bridge construction. You’ll be trusted to help plan, coordinate and drive delivery across piling, heavy civil, structural concrete and structural steel activities. It’s Good Work with real impact, a strong team around you, and the chance to help build something that matters.

Key role responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day engineering delivery across structural work packages on the Rolleston flyover bridge project.
  • Plan and sequence works to keep piling, concrete, steel and associated civil activities moving safely and efficiently.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and site crews to ensure works are delivered to programme and specification.
  • Oversee quality documentation and site records, including ITPs, QA documentation, as-builts and progress reporting.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager and wider team on programming, resourcing, procurement and cost control.
  • Monitor safety, quality and environmental performance, and step in quickly when standards need to be lifted.
  • Support practical problem solving on site and help drive smart, buildable solutions when challenges come up.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Around 10 years’ experience in construction, with proven experience already operating at Project Engineer level on civil infrastructure projects.
  • Strong structural project experience, ideally across bridge construction, piling, heavy civil, structural concrete and structural steel.
  • Solid planning and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple moving parts and keep delivery on track.
  • A collaborative, low-ego style and the confidence to work side by side with the team, not top down.
  • A calm, organised approach — relaxed day to day, but switched on when it counts.
  • A strong focus on safety, quality and doing the job properly first time.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with crews, subcontractors and project stakeholders.
