Step into a senior asphalt role where your experience sets the pace on site. Based in Timaru, you’ll be a key part of our Asphalt Laying Crew, staying hands on in the work while supporting the Foreman as 2IC. Ngā tino kawenga mahi | Key role responsibilities
- Support the Foreman with daily workflow and help coordinate site activities as the crew’s 2IC.
- Lead from the front with hands-on asphalt laying, plant operation, labouring tasks, and safe site set-up.
- Step into the Foreman’s role when needed and help keep work on track, on time, and to a high quality standard.
- Carry out pre-starts, risk planning, equipment checks, and support safe, efficient day-to-day operations.
- Help train and guide less experienced crew members while building a strong team culture on site.

- Solid hands-on experience in asphalt operations, with the confidence to support site leadership and crew delivery.
- Experience as a leading hand or in a senior crew role, with the ability to step up and take responsibility on site.
- Current Class 2 licence minimum, with W, T, R endorsements.
- A strong understanding of traffic management requirements on site; STMS Level 1 and First Aid are preferred.
- A practical, reliable, safety-focused approach, with the mindset to work hard, think ahead, support the team, and deliver quality work.
