Job Description

Rockwell Automation is seeking a Project Engineer, Product Quality to execute and support product quality activities across the product lifecycle, including New Product Introduction (NPI), production, and field support. This role focuses on anomaly prevention, product quality issue resolution, and compliance with quality standards. The role involves working closely with cross‑functional teams across engineering, manufacturing, and product management to ensure sustained product performance and customer satisfaction.

This position applies established quality tools and methodologies to moderately complex product issues and begins to independently own defined product quality deliverables, while escalating higher‑risk or ambiguous problems as appropriate.

You'll work a hybrid schedule in either Mayfield Heights, OH, Milwaukee, WI, or Twinsburg, OH and report to the Manager of Product Quality.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Read and interpret technical product documentation with understanding of product usage within customer application and environment.
  • Develop and implement a quality management strategy to improve the quality of released solutions and new product designs.
  • Demonstrate collaborative partnerships with peers, leaders, and stakeholders across functions.
  • Collaborate with global cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, and product management.
  • Implement metrics and dashboards to drive ongoing visibility and continuous improvement to quality goals and objectives.
  • Lead process improvement efforts that drive systemic improvements in quality and customer issue resolution.
  • Facilitate and participate in retrospectives for continuous improvement of products and processes; promote development and tracking of action items.
  • Perform risk assessments and implement early preventive mitigation action plans.
  • Maintain accountability for high-quality performance throughout the product lifecycle by monitoring field performance, leading investigations, and driving corrective actions to improve customer satisfaction.
  • Translate field performance monitoring and investigation insights into effective preventative measures that reduce recurrence and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Comfortable using AI‑enabled tools and data analytics to accelerate quality insights, reduce manual effort, and support evidence‑based decisions.
  • Execute product quality activities across NPI, production, and post‑release support, with a focus on defect prevention and issue resolution.
  • Apply established quality tools and methodologies to investigate and resolve moderately complex product quality issues, escalating higher‑risk or ambiguous issues as needed.
  • Independently own defined product quality deliverables across portions of the product lifecycle, supporting sustained performance and compliance with quality standards.
  • Support investigations and corrective actions that require understanding of hardware‑based failure modes, not limited solely to application‑level behavior.
  • Provide technical guidance to lab technicians on investigation approaches, troubleshooting paths, and appropriate escalation protocols
The Essentials - You Will Have:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Relevant Field.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 8+ years in quality, manufacturing or field service engineering, with demonstrated experience in both product development (NPI) and post-release support.
  • Experience in post-release quality support, including field issue resolution, RCFA (root cause failure analysis), and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Drives results with cross-functional team within a complex matrix organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to drive performance results.
  • Strong experience in QA tools and methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Primarily Excel and PowerPoint, Power BI).
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning system, preferably SAP.
