POSITION SUMMARY
Lauren Services is seeking a Project Engineer (PE) to join our Houston team. This role is ideal for a mid-career engineer who enjoys a combination of technical engineering, project coordination, and client interaction while remaining actively involved in design and execution activities.
The successful candidate will support multidisciplinary industrial projects from concept through construction, working closely with project managers, engineers, designers, clients, and contractors to deliver high-quality solutions safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
This is a hands-on engineering role suited for someone who thrives as a technical contributor and a people manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Engineering & Design
- Develop practical, cost-effective engineering solutions for industrial and energy-related projects.
- Prepare and review engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and design documents.
- Support the development of Design Basis Memorandums (DBMs), engineering work packages, and construction documentation.
- Participate in equipment selection, material selection, and technical evaluations.
- Review vendor documents and technical submittals.
- Assist in the development and review of P&IDs, general arrangements, isometrics, plot plans, and other engineering deliverables.
- Apply industry codes, standards, and regulatory requirements to engineering designs.
Project Execution
- Coordinate engineering activities between disciplines to support project execution.
- Track engineering scope, schedules, deliverables, and action items.
- Participate in project meetings, client reviews, and design workshops.
- Prepare meeting minutes and document follow-up actions.
- Support project cost estimates and engineering deliverable planning.
- Interface with clients, contractors, vendors, and internal project teams.
- Provide technical support during procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup activities.
Client Support
- Build positive working relationships with clients through responsive communication and technical excellence.
- Support proposal development, scope definition, and project planning activities as required.
- Represent Lauren professionally in client-facing discussions.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Texas (required).
- Professional Engineer registration in one additional U.S. state preferred.
- 5-10 years of engineering experience in EPCM, consulting engineering, industrial facilities, energy infrastructure, pipelines, terminals, or related industries.
- Experience coordinating engineering deliverables and multidisciplinary project activities.
- Experience supporting projects through design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
- Strong understanding of industrial facility design and project execution practices.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Midstream, gas processing, compression, terminals, storage facilities, or pipeline projects.
- Brownfield industrial facility modifications.
- Owner-operator or EPC/EPCM project environments.
- Construction support and field engineering experience.
- Experience working on projects throughout the Gulf Coast and broader U.S. market.
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE
Working knowledge of applicable U.S. industry codes and standards, including:
- ASME B31.3 Process Piping
- ASME B31.1 Power Piping
- ASME Section VIII
- API Standards
- NFPA Codes
- OSHA Requirements
- NACE/AMPP Standards
- Applicable state and local regulatory requirements
SKILLS
- Strong technical engineering and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to independently manage engineering assignments and priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and coordination skills.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project or Primavera P6.
- Comfortable working directly with clients, contractors, and vendors.
