Ecolab is seeking for a Project Manager (PM) for our Global High-Tech (GHT) segment.
The Project Manager GHT applies advanced engineering skills to manage multiple engineering complex projects to meet cost and time objectives, while ensuring deliverables of high quality and standards in the field of water, wastewater and cooling tower treatment in Data Center and Micro-electronics industry. This encompasses the different aspects from design to start-up, including technical and commercial offers preparation as support to sales team, selection of suppliers as well as full project management.
It is a key role on EU level within Engineering group, with high visibility through the top management and main stakeholders and will be reporting to the Engineering Manager.
The position can be based anywhere in Europe (preferably centre Europe/Benelux/Germany) as full remote worker with flexibility to travel regularly throughout Europe to customer or vendor’s sites (at least 30%of worktime).
What you will do:
• Work closely with the Corporate Account Manager (CAM), ITC (Industrial Technical Consultant), as well as the Local Engineering and Field Sales teams to drive industryspecific and technical/application business growth within the Global High-Tech sector, with an emphasis on Data Centers and Micro-Electronics.
• Evaluate customer requests to accurately identify their needs and develop tailored solutions or best practices from a holistic water operations perspective, encompassing cooling, heating, reuse/recycle, and both open and closed loop systems utilizing the latest innovative technologies. Responsibilities include defining treatment processes, implementing chemical programs, and managing equipment sizing and cost estimation.
• Review engineering specification for project compliance. Analyze technical requirements and develop innovative engineering solutions.
• Ensure compliance with regulations, standards and company standards, review designs and take responsibility to document the necessary processes.
• Be responsible for scheduling and coordinating major segments of complex projects to meet QA/QC, cost and time objectives.
• Be responsible for conducting feasibility studies, determine manpower and cost estimates, as well as developing engineering criteria.
• Liaise with CAMs, ITC, Sales, local teams and customers for project development. In particular, you will lead and support any technical and programmatic call with all Customer’s stakeholders (engineering firms) dealing with several disciplines (process, logic, automation, electrics, hydraulics, …)
• Coordinate all project related activities through the project support team, service technicians and third-party partners.
• Be responsible for project implementation from concept design, based on customer requirements, up to commissioning as closure and of course providing all required and necessary documentation and CE compliance certificates
• Track all project KPI, safety, quality, time and costs using dashboards that you will maintain up to date.
Profile - Education and Experience:
• Degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering (or equivalent); project management certifications are highly valued.
• Relevant experience in technical roles involving industrial water market with emphasis in implementation of water treatment systems and technology (at least 3-5 years)
• 2+ years of specific experience in managing complex projects within water treatment and/or oil & gas sectors (PM)
• Knowledge of water/effluent treatment technologies (RO/UF, DAF, MBR, etc.) and familiarity with plant commissioning/start-up.
• Strong project management skills, including technical coordination, financial planning, and cross-functional team leadership.
• Strong knowledge of project management tools and methodologies.
• Solution oriented, problem-solving mindset to complex challenges
• Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams without direct authority; leadership skills; attention to detail
• Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary for collaborating with team members, clients, and stakeholders
• Ability to multitask, strong organisational skills, resilience.
• Confidence with main engineering documentation and able to Prepare layouts, P&ID, GA, designs and specifications
• Strong culture, attention and inclination towards Health Safety and Environment values with respect to Ecolab’s policy and personal attitude for training and personal protection
• Fluency in English (compulsory)
• Proficient and in Microsoft 365 especially (Excel and PowerPoint) and in AutoCAD or eq, and specific engineering software
• Valid driver’s license (for driving in France/Europe) compulsory.
Preferred / Nice to Have
• Demonstrable technical expertise and experience in optimizing water operations in the Global High-Tech (GHT) segment
• Experiences with Commissioning L1-L5 program
• Advanced skills with Autocad 3d modelling (or equivalent) and technical design software for water technologies (RO, UF, EDI, IX, …)
• Have a good knowledge of mechanical, piping, electrical, materials and their compatibility with most common chemicals and specialties (Ecolab chemicals); • Be familiar with control & monitoring instrumentation, remote and local modes;
• Awareness of most used international standards and norms required for equipment construction and certification
• Experience of working with EPC companies: understanding how to identify, analyse, and mitigate risks associated with EPC projects is important and a plus.
