We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our South Region Customer Engineering team in the Metro Atlanta area. This role offers the chance to lead a portfolio of concurrent cryogenic and industrial gas delivery system projects while working directly with customers, commercial teams, and engineering partners, providing broad exposure to the technical and commercial aspects of the business. Beyond project execution, the Project Engineer serves as a trusted technical resource throughout the lifecycle of installed systems supporting operations and maintenance activities, solving equipment and system issues, and helping find opportunities to improve reliability and performance. Working alongside experienced Customer Engineering professionals, this individual will develop practical engineering, project management, and technical decision-making skills through direct involvement in customer projects and operational support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Champion Air Products' Safety Program in all customers, project, and operational activities.
  • Lead a portfolio of concurrent cryogenic and industrial gas delivery system projects, ensuring safe execution and delivery on schedule and within budget.
  • Develop technical proposals, estimates, and engineered solutions that support customer requirements and business objectives.
  • Lead project execution through design, procurement, installation, and commissioning while coordinating internal teams and external partners to achieve project objectives.
  • Apply sound engineering judgment to evaluate challenging alternatives and make informed technical decisions that move projects forward.
  • Support customers and operations teams throughout the lifecycle of installed systems by solving equipment and system issues, evaluating modifications, identifying performance improvements, and developing solutions that support evolving operational requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Shown commitment to safety.


Skills and Abilities:
  • Basic understanding of drafting or CAD and the ability to develop equipment layouts and process flow schematics.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize through strong interpersonal discipline.
  • Technical aptitude to understand customer requirements, industrial technologies, and project financial considerations.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability, sound engineering judgment, and a results-oriented mindset.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to engage technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Ability to interpret and apply technical codes, standards, and specifications.


Minimum Hiring Requirements:
  • One to five years of engineering experience with an engineering degree or equivalent
  • experience; Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Self-directed and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and collaborate
  • efficiently across geographically dispersed teams.
  • Proficiency with common business and engineering software applications.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the US without current or future sponsorship (e.g. temporary work visa or work permit).


Work Arrangement and Travel:

Air Products recognizes the value of workplace flexibility and supports a hybrid work environment for established team members. To facilitate effective onboarding, mentorship, and hands-on development, new hires are expected to work primarily from the office or field. As employees develop proficiency and independence in the role, hybrid work flexibility may become available based on business needs. Travel requirements for this position are typically 10-20% to support technical sales activities, site evaluations, and project execution. Additional travel should be expected during onboarding and training to facilitate hands-on learning and development.
