Are you a skilled engineer with a passion for leadership? BAE Systems is seeking a Project Engineer to join our team in Kingsport, TN. In this role, you will bridge the gap between complex engineering design and real-world execution at the Holston Army Ammunition Plant.
What You'll Do:
- Lead and Mentor: Guide a diverse team of engineers, fostering a collaborative environment to meet complex functional requirements.
- Drive Execution: Take ownership of the technical roadmap, ensuring every task is aligned with the project schedule and budgetary goals.
- Manage Partnerships: Act as the primary technical point of contact for internal teams and external suppliers, ensuring all deliverables meet our rigorous standards.
- Bridge Design to Production: Lead the commissioning process and ensure a smooth hand-off to production teams.
- Strategic Support: Assist in the growth of the program by developing accurate budgetary estimates and supporting new proposals.
Physical Requirements:
This role requires regular presence in a manufacturing or fabrication environment. The incumbent must be able to access and safely navigate production areas which may include climbing, kneeling, stooping, and working in confined spaces. Must also be able to comply with all requirements including the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with company policy.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical field required; mechanical, systems, civil of chemical engineering degree preferred
- 8+ years related experience, including 5 years of experience in engineering design, development, and / or commissioning
- 2 years in an engineering technical project leadership position
- Must be able to effectively communicate and interface with various functional departments and customers
- Must be able to foster a positive and inclusive work environment
- Must be able to effectively use Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Proficiency in AutoCAD suite software
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Experience in multi-million dollar plant capital sustainment or expansion projects - including industrial construction or modernization efforts
- Experience in the chemical process industry or energetics industry
- Experience with proposal development
- Understanding and experience within cross-functional teams
- Experience with Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) methodology and substantiating task estimates #LI-Onsite #LI-JR1
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $108787 - $184937
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

Skills Required
