As a Project Engineer Automation & Control, you will lead and deliver capital investment projects focused on automation, controls, electrical systems and factory digitalization. This role combines project leadership with deep technical expertise in industrial control systems, supporting the implementation of innovative manufacturing solutions within one of Mars' largest production sites.
What will be your key responsibilities?
Lead capital investment projects from concept through execution, commissioning and handover to operations.
Deliver projects safely, on time, within budget and in line with agreed business objectives.
Manage automation and controls-related project activities, including PLC, SCADA, MES, industrial networks and factory IT systems.
Define technical requirements and develop solutions together with manufacturing, engineering and business stakeholders.
Coordinate contractors, suppliers and multidisciplinary project teams throughout project execution.
Ensure compliance with Mars engineering standards, quality requirements, food safety standards and applicable regulations.
Provide technical expertise and support to manufacturing teams in the areas of automation, controls and electrical systems.
Contribute to the development and implementation of global and regional engineering standards, while promoting best practices and continuous improvement.
What are we looking for?
Degree in Automation, Control Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
Strong controls engineering background with hands-on experience in industrial automation and control systems within a manufacturing environment.
Minimum 5 years of engineering experience, including delivering capital investment or industrial improvement projects.
Experience working with PLC platforms such as Siemens and/or Rockwell, including troubleshooting and commissioning activities.
Knowledge of SCADA, MES, industrial networks and factory digitalization solutions.
Proven ability to lead technical projects and collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders.
Strong understanding of engineering safety, quality and reliability principles.
Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in FMCG, food manufacturing or other highly automated production environments.
Knowledge of AutoCAD, EPLAN or similar engineering design tools.
Experience with SQL databases, historian systems and industrial data collection platforms.
Familiarity with Python, C#, JavaScript or other programming languages.
Electrical qualifications (G1) and additional energy-related qualifications (G2/G3).
Knowledge of vision systems, robotics or cobot technologies.
