The Project Engineer 5 is responsible for the successful execution of Power Generation Projects from initiation through startup and commissioning. Acting as the primary liaison between internal teams, customers, contractors, and public-sector stakeholders, this role requires strong soft leadership skills, the ability to manage team dynamics and resolve conflicts, and experience coordinating projects within municipalities, healthcare facilities, and government organizations. This person is responsible for developing and executing project milestones, managing budgets, and providing technical support to all PSD customers.

Essential Functions
  • Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission
  • Leads high-impact projects and drives technical innovation.
  • Assists sales representative in the preparation of project cost estimates.
  • Reviews projects for accuracy and completeness as well as the alignment of company goals.
  • Manages stakeholder communication and project workflows.
  • Ensures compliance with industry regulations and company standard.
  • Defines project goals and strategic direction.
  • Conducts in-depth reviews of completed projects to identify successes, challenges, and opportunities for improvement, ensuring continuous growth and learning.
  • Represents the company in high-level stakeholder meetings, negotiating project terms and resolving conflicts to maintain productive relationships.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert to provide technical leadership and resolve highly complex engineering challenges.
  • Provides informal leadership and guidance to cross-functional project teams, fostering collaboration, accountability, and successful project execution. 
  • Facilitates conflict resolution among project stakeholders, contractors, customers, and internal teams to ensure project objectives remain on track. 
  • Builds and maintains strong working relationships with municipalities, hospitals, government agencies, and other public-sector organizations throughout all phases of project execution. 
  • Coordinates with local authorities, permitting agencies, healthcare facilities, and government entities to support project planning, compliance, and execution requirements. 
  • Serves as a trusted advisor to customers and stakeholders by effectively managing communications, expectations, and issue resolution.
  • Collaborates with executive leadership to align project objectives with broader organizational strategies and long-term goals.
  • Develops long-term process improvements and best practices.
  • Advises leadership on technical and business matters.
  • Mentors team at all levels and drives technical excellence.
  • Leads team in process implementation and change management.
  • Works safely always and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Performs other duties assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrated soft leadership experience, including leading project teams, influencing stakeholders, and driving results without direct supervisory authority. 
  • Proven ability to manage team dynamics, facilitate collaboration, and resolve conflicts in a professional and constructive manner
  • Strong experience working with municipalities, hospitals, government facilities, and other public-sector organizations. 
  •  Ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments, permitting processes, and regulatory requirements associated with public and institutional projects. 
  • Excellent relationship-building, negotiation, and communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Mastery of engineering and project management disciplines.
  • Ability to influence market segment-wide project strategy.
  • Strategic thinking to identify growth opportunities and implement improvements.
  • Financial acumen to manage budgets, forecasts, and cost controls effectively.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Superior communication skills to effectively engage with stakeholders, executives, and cross-functional teams.
  • Expertise in risk assessment, budgeting, and resource planning.


Requirements
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field of study required.
  • 8+ years in project engineering, planning, or related roles.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • None
Travel:
  • Up to 30%, overnight travel required.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
Physical Requirements:

  • This position involves extended periods in a stationary position, standing, and walking; additionally, occasionally kneeling, crouching, and stooping

  • Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
  • Occasionally moves materials or equipment weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work
  • Ascend/descend with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climb up and down ladder
Work Environment:
  • This job is generally performed in a professional office environment, in environmentally controlled conditions and outdoor conditions on jobsite.
  • Occasionally works outdoors and may be exposed to weather extremes conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity.
  • Frequently works at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
