We are seeking an experienced Project Controls Manager to join our dynamic team! The ideal candidate will have a solid background in project management of utility-scale solar and/or battery storage projects and strong people management experience. In this role, you will be key in ensuring the Project Controls team keep projects on track, within budget, and meet objectives by managing project schedules, costs, and resources, while also providing reports and analysis to stakeholders.

Established in 2014, Gridworks is a leading EPC contractor for utility-scale solar and battery storage projects. Primarily operating across the southwest, we are expanding into other regions. With 2 GW of solar and battery energy storage projects we are well positioned for continued success in the rapidly growing clean energy sector.  

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Take the lead and support project management teams with:
    • Preconstruction planning & quantity takeoffs
    • Budget creation & management
    • Change management & claims
    • Cost analysis & forecasting
    • Progress updates & performance analysis surrounding earned value management concepts
    • Project-specific and company-wide reporting requirements
    • Schedule performance & time-impact analysis
    • Compiling, reviewing and analyzing project controls related data while interfacing with upper management and project teams on results and providing innovative solutions to scheduling & cost performance
  • Assist/train project management in the use of other Project Controls processes, tools & reporting
  • Assist with preparation of project progress billings
  • Assist with proposal budget reviews & cash flows
  • Develop processes & procedures as assigned
  • May require some travel to project sites
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or related field required.

  • 5+ years of experience in project controls, cost management, scheduling, planning, or related experience within construction or EPC environments.

  • Experience supporting utility-scale solar or BESS projects preferred.

  • Strong understanding of cost control, forecasting, scheduling methodologies, and earned value management concepts.

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel required.

  • Experience with CMiC preferred.

  • Experience with Procore preferred.

  • Experience with Power BI preferred.

  • Experience with Primavera P6 Professional preferred.

  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively across teams.
