Job Description
OVERVIEW
The Programme Planner is a strategic content scheduling role, responsible for planning NBCU Channels within the EMEA region. This role is primarily tasked with producing editorially compelling monthly schedules that take into account the best possible research and local market trends, and utilizing inventories in a creative and cost effective way. The Programme Planner is the main point of contact for other departments and stakeholders regarding all scheduling issues relating to the channel. The role reports to the Head of Programming, IBERIA & CEE and is part of the Madrid-based EMEA Programming team.
Compared to the Programme Planner Manager, this is more junior due to working alongside and receiving support from the Head of Programming to both: devise the long-term scheduling strategy as well as identify content needs and making the required selections. The expertise required for this role need not be as deep or extensive as the Manager level
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Work closely and support the Head of Programming on multiple channels across relevant markets to devise and deliver a competitive content strategy and forward plan which is consistent with the brand(s).
Develop and produce monthly grids that are editorially creative and competitive.
Input program grids into the scheduling systems (Landmark & Lacuna)
Manage and execute the non-linear service across all relevant platforms.
Own, discuss, communicate and present channel plans at a range of forums: weekly one-to-one, team meetings and monthly campaign meetings.
Brainstorm ideas & concepts for the channel each month including weekends, stunts, strands, marathons and seasons around themes, calendar events etc...
Coordinate with the Research, On-Air, Marketing, Creative, and Operations departments to ensure the schedules are fully supported and executed.
Manage programming inventory and ensure a cost-efficient and creative allocation of resources.
Monitor closely key competitor's activities and ratings.
Carry out ratings analysis and research audience viewing trends.
Ensure planning is within OFCOM and/or local regulatory guidelines.
Be the point of contact for all queries regarding the channel.
Qualifications
Experience of planning linear channels across international markets.
Experience of working within a broadcast environment.
A genuine passion for TV and familiarity of content within the General Entertainment genre.
Understanding of audience research data.
Excellent organization and time management skills.
Ability to apply creative and strategic thinking to a TV channel brand.
A methodical approach and great attention to detail.
Resilience to work towards firm deadlines.
Ability to work in a team as well as autonomously.
QUALIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTS
Working knowledge of broadcast scheduling systems (Vision/Landmark preferred)
Experience with rating analysis tools a plus
Strong knowledge of Excel.
Excellent written and spoken English.
