Purpose


CEEW seeks to hire a dedicated researcher and manager who is a go-getter to assess the industrial performance, pollution control and monitoring practices, real-time monitoring implementation and challenges, and identify the solutions and extend capacity building support for stakeholders such as industries and regulators. The candidate will undertake high quality research and writing, lead project and team, manage capacity building initiative, ensure quality deliverables, build and manage stakeholder’s network. The role offers an excellent opportunity to work with sector experts, technology manufacturers, international experts, industries, environmental regulators and policy makers. While the role is based in Delhi, the candidate should be open to traveling frequently as and when needed.


The candidate must have experience in industrial operation, technology and performance assessment, environmental monitoring technology and practices, industry related environmental regulations, Training and capacity building programmes. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to work across teams and manage multiple priorities. He/she should be detail-oriented, an eager learner and committed to adhering to timelines. 

In addition to the duties and responsibilities below, the individual should be prepared, as and when necessary, to take on additional responsibilities.


Job duties and accountabilities

Research and programme 

 

  • To track industrial pollution scenario, environmental performances, pollution norms, monitoring & reporting and compliance status and solutions in India vis-a vis global best practices

  • Research and report on industrial pollution policy/ regulations/norms in India vis-à-vis global standards and exploring a way forward

  • Research on real-time pollution monitoring  (CEMS and CAAQMS)- assessment, challenges and solutions and working with the relevant stakeholders to assist in successful implementation

  • Survey (environmental/regulatory/industrial)- design, questionnaire development, execution, assessment and report preparation

  • Training and capacity building of stakeholders- regulators, industries and others on topics including environmental regulations, performance,  pollution monitoring and reporting, compliance and best practices.

  • To provide research content for the organisation's web pages, blogs, issue briefs, etc

  • To help younger staff members build capacity on working with big data sets

  • To engage with relevant stakeholders from industries, policy experts, academicians

  • To participate in relevant conferences, workshops, training programmes for a comprehensive understanding on the subject in India and globally


Selection Criteria

Qualification

  • BTech/ BE/ MTech/ ME  or Masters/ Ph.D in Engineering/Environment field 

  • Project Associate: minimum - 5 years of experience

  • Project Lead: minimum - 10 years of experience

Work experience

  • Research experience and knowledge of industrial operations, best technology and practices, India’s environmental regime, policy & regulations, mandates, compliance check and governance system especially related to the industries is a must

  • Must have understanding of industrial pollution monitoring especially real-time monitoring systems- CEMS, CEQMS and CAAQMS and reporting mandates in India and overseas. Experience of environmental monitoring for industries and laboratory-based monitoring is a plus.

  • Experience of working with regulatory government agencies such as CPCB, SPCB, MoEFCC and relevant agencies is a plus

  • Writing and publishing (reports, articles, whitepapers and briefs etc.) experience is preferable.

Skills Required
