Job Summary:
We have a great position in the Global Planning and Demand Management group to provide leadership to our suite of digital products and supporting processes in order management. This role will have the opportunity to support machine distribution by influencing and recommending the right business decisions, leading and supporting our digital product teams as well as interacting with many organizations within the Caterpillar enterprise. In the position you will also be the digital product owner for our Multi-source Facility tools which supports machine ordering with routing orders and various other functions. This position interacts with and presents to certain senior leadership, project teams, as well as the many internal customers within Caterpillar. In the end, project execution and delivery of all related activities rests with your leadership.
What You Will Do:

  • Managing the day-to-day activities of projects, including overseeing project responsibilities and schedules. Developing contingency plans for potential risks.
  • Directing and motivating project team.
  • Evaluating and managing deliverables to ensure that service expectations are achievable, developed, and met.
  • Monitoring project results for significant deviations. Ensuring adherence to quality standards and processes.
  • Engage in process development and implementation which includes data, systems, policies and workflow.
  • On-going support and development of digital products that require both deep process and solution understanding to lead future product success

Planning: Tactical, Strategic: • Develops, refines, and communicates tactical plans for own responsibilities. • Provides the right level of detail as input for strategic plan development. • Demonstrates the value and necessity of linking tactical plans to overall strategic plan. • Ensures attention to the detail and dependencies of existing departmental-level plans. • Plans for allocation of resources in line with unit goals, technical and business objectives. • Ensures the planning process is integrated with the overall business plan.
Project Administration: • Reports dependencies, conflicts, and completion date status to project management team. • Develops cost-benefit analysis; tracks and reviews actual costs vs. planned. • Helps others to develop in-depth knowledge of project administration software. • Makes sure project problems are surfaced and reported to appropriate project personnel. • Implements planned and ad-hoc communications to and from affected parties. • Monitors progress and generates project variance analysis reports.
Decision Making and Critical Thinking: • Differentiates assumptions, perspectives, and historical frameworks. • Evaluates past decisions for insights to improve decision-making process. • Assesses and validates decision options and points and predicts their potential impact. • Advises others in analyzing and synthesizing relevant data and assessing alternatives. • Uses effective decision-making approaches such as consultative, command, or consensus. • Ensures that assumptions and received wisdom are objectively analyzed in decisions.
Data Gathering and Reporting: • Prepares cost-benefit analyses of alternative approaches. • Analyzes complex reports as revealed by the data. • Teaches others the calculations necessary to capture data and develop more complex reports. • Oversees multiple data-gathering and analysis initiatives with the focus on KPI creation and monitoring. • Participates in developing criteria for selecting data gathering and reporting tools and techniques for various projects. • Reviews and verifies data and reports for accuracy.
Implementation: • Monitors employees to solve software application problems in a timely and efficient manner. • Designs a department's implementation strategy while considering issues such as budget, time, technology and human resources. • Evaluates new application software in order to determine applicability within organizational environments. • Supervises a team to implement application software within the department. • Evaluates best practices of application implementation within the industry; learns the principles and practices of application software. • Advises end users on advanced functions and operational techniques of application software.
Project Control and Reporting: • Justifies varying and appropriate levels of scrutiny for differently experienced team members. • Advises on the selection of tools and techniques used for monitoring progress and presenting reports to stakeholders. • Communicates with managerial, technical and business stakeholders on progress reporting. • Controls multiple projects: monitoring progress, probing and repairing delays. • Consolidates the progress of many projects into a single progress report. • Consults on the principles of Earned Value Analysis across multiple projects.
Project Management: • Controls quality standards and budgeting in an ongoing project. • Estimates and appropriately addresses potential issues and risks in projects. • Ensures that business and technical objectives and functional requirements align in all projects. • Builds related templates for demand analysis and functional reports. • Monitors every step in an project to ensure all aspects of the project are delivered on-time. • Directs team members in analyzing client requirements in an appropriate manner.

Summary Pay Range:
$144,960.00 - $217,320.00
