The High Point University Workman School of Dental Medicine (WSDM) is seeking a Manager for Digital Innovation to lead three key areas central to the school’s mission of advancing dental education, research, and professional development. This role will:
1. Manage the Digital Dentistry Fellowship Program, including accreditation, reporting, onboarding, and curriculum coordination.
2. Facilitate Continuing Education (CE) programs, including internal and external offerings, faculty development, and calibration.
3. Oversee the Clinical/Translational Research Program, including grant management, research core development, and partnerships.
The successful candidate will report to the Dean for Innovation/Chief Innovation Officer and collaborate closely with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT).
Education
- Required
- Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree (BS or BA) in relevant discipline in health professions (e.g. Dental Assistance, Dental Hygiene, Dental Lab Technology, Nursing, or similar/equivalent degree)
- Preferred
- Bachelor's degree or advanced degrees in higher education, health professions education, or a related field (e.g., MA, MEd, MS) with strong clinical and translational research training.
Experience and Training
- Proven expertise in program management, professional development, and event coordination.
- Experience in health professions education, with a focus on dental or medical settings.
- Proficiency in managing credentialing and compliance for CE programs (e.g., ADA CERP, AGD PACE).
- Experience in overseeing clinical and translational research programs, including grant and budget management.
- Familiarity with digital dentistry technologies and research methodologies.
Knowledge, Skills, Ability:
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Advanced proficiency with event planning and education management tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, Eventbrite, Zoom).
- Experience working with electronic patient record systems (e.g., EPIC).
- Analytical skills for program evaluation and budgeting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The candidate selected for this position will perform all duties directed by the Chief Innovation Officer, with input from the ELT The candidate will be expected to perform the following duties, including but not limited to:
Management of the Digital Dentistry Fellowship Program
- Collaborate with the Director of the Digital Dentistry Fellowship Program to ensure effective program execution.
- Ensure compliance with institution’s accreditation standards and oversee credentialing processes.
- Collaborate with HPU Graduate School and other departments/schools to facilitate the development of a potential Master’s degree program associated with digital dentistry.
- Manage education, onboarding, reporting, and tracking of fellows’ outcomes.
- Develop and implement innovative educational experiences that align with program goals and industry standards.
- Act as a liaison between internal and external stakeholders to optimize program operations and maintain excellence.
Facilitation of Continuing Education (CE) Programs
- Partner with clinical and education teams to design and deliver CE offerings tailored for faculty, alumni, and the broader dental community.
- Oversee the planning and logistics for CE events, ensuring compliance with accrediting organizations such as ADA CERP and AGD PACE.
- Coordinate marketing, enrollment, and feedback processes to maximize program impact and participant engagement.
- Support faculty development, calibration, and professional growth through targeted CE opportunities.
- Regularly evaluate CE programs through outcome data and stakeholder input, adjusting to meet evolving community and professional needs.
Management of Clinical and Translational Research Programs
- Lead the development and coordination of clinical and translational research initiatives in collaboration with faculty, students, and industry partners.
- Oversee research grant applications, budgeting, and the dissemination of findings.
- Play a pivotal role in establishing and centralizing the clinical and translational research core for the school.
- Foster partnerships with industrial and academic collaborators to advance innovation and research opportunities.
- Collaborate with IRB and clinical investigators in IRB preparation and submission as well as provide inputs in regards to human subjects for research protocols and grants.
- Support clinical trials and translational research projects to ensure alignment with institutional goals and priorities.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
- Regular performance reviews will be conducted by the Dean for Innovation, with input from the ELT, faculty, staff, and learners.
- Annual goals will include measurable milestones in:
- Digital Fellowship Program development and outcomes.
- CE programming, including a specific number of courses delivered and participant satisfaction.
- Clinical/Translational Research, including grants, publications, and partnerships.
