Position Summary
The IT Project Manager is a hands-on delivery role within R1 RCM’s IT Project Management Office (IT PMO). This role is responsible for leading assigned IT projects from initiation through closure while working with IT leaders, product owners, business stakeholders, technical teams, vendors, and onshore and offshore resources to achieve approved project objectives.
The Project Manager establishes and maintains the delivery structure for each project, including scope, schedule, milestones, resources, dependencies, risks, issues, decisions, financial tracking, communications, and success criteria. The role provides day-to-day project leadership, drives accountability across matrixed teams, escalates barriers, and maintains accurate project information in IT PMO systems of record. Projects may use Waterfall, Agile, or Hybrid delivery methods depending on the nature of the work.
Essential Responsibilities
- Lead assigned IT projects through initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and control, and closure in accordance with IT PMO standards.
- Partner with the project sponsor and initiative owner to confirm project objectives, scope, success measures, governance, decision rights, and stakeholder expectations.
- Develop and maintain integrated project plans that identify milestones, tasks, deliverables, dependencies, resources, and target dates.
- Create clear ownership and accountability for project work. Follow up on commitments, surface missed dependencies and escalate barriers that put delivery outcomes at risk.
- Proactively identify, assess, document, communicate, and manage risks, issues, assumptions, decisions, and dependencies, including development and follow-through of mitigation or recovery plans.
- Monitor project performance against approved scope, schedule, quality, resource, and financial expectations. Raise variances early and coordinate corrective action.
- Provide concise, accurate, audience-appropriate project status reporting to sponsors, IT leaders, governance forums, and key stakeholders.
- Plan and facilitate project meetings with clear objectives, decisions, action items, owners, and due dates.
- Coordinate work across matrixed IT and business teams, including onshore and offshore resources, and serve as a liaison when work spans locations, functions, or time zones.
- Lead Waterfall, Agile, or Hybrid projects and tailor delivery practices to project needs while maintaining required governance and controls.
- Manage project changes through the applicable review and approval process, including assessment of impacts to scope, schedule, resources, cost, risk, and expected outcomes.
- Maintain complete and current project records in ServiceNow SPM and other approved IT PMO tools, including project plans, status, RAID items, decisions, financial information, and required artifacts.
- Coordinate vendor delivery when applicable, including milestones, dependencies, risks, deliverables, and alignment with internal teams and contractual commitments.
- Partner with project teams to plan implementation of readiness, organizational change, communications, training, transition to operations, and stabilization activities as applicable.
- Complete formal project closure, including acceptance of deliverables, transition of ownership, closure of outstanding items, financial reconciliation, and lessons learned.
- Capture final delivery results and provide project information needed for post-project benefits realization review by the appropriate portfolio or initiative owner.
- Promote transparency, collaboration, continuous improvement, and consistent use of IT PMO standards and best practices.
