About the Opportunity:

Brown University’s School of Professional Studies (SPS) brings a Brown education to new audiences of learners: those focused on development of skills and a breadth of knowledge necessary for professional success and leadership. We leverage Brown’s intellectual centers of excellence, rigorous teaching, and developmental approach to learning in a range of programs, including serving students outside of traditional degree programs. We partner with Brown departments, centers, institutes, and schools to develop degree and non-degree programs, and to support the recruitment, retention, and placement success of master’s students, including traditional, non-traditional, and professional students.

Responsibilities:

This position supports the student services, engagement, and academic support branches of the Center for Master’s Student Excellence in the School of Professional Studies. The incumbent’s time will be split between:

• Support for the master’s program review process: Assembling data packets, scheduling meetings, and performing benchmarking exercises on academic programs as part of the newly launched program review process.

• Triaging and organizational support for student support and case management.

• Attending and helping to organize and run community-building events for master’s students.

• Supporting the deputy dean with other activities as required

The position will require the ability to work well with many members of the SPS team and with faculty and students. The incumbent will need to be able to meet deadlines, manage work requests from several staff, and switch between very different kinds of work. They will need to be flexible and excited to learn about practices and policies in SPS.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 1+ year of relevant experience.

  • Experience working in a higher education environment is desired.


 

Job Competencies:

• Familiarity with Google and Microsoft suite products;

• The ability to interact professionally with a variety of people;

• Interest in and capacity to learn new skills

• Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.
