We are seeking a Program Accountant to join the Foundation in its mission of benefitting, supporting, and enhancing the California Community Colleges—the largest and most diverse system of higher education in the nation. What You’ll Do 

The Program Accountant is responsible for routine financial transactions and performing month end close functions. This position manages tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, contract/grant reporting, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities.

  •  Manages assigned contracts, grants and/or fiscal sponsor relationships which includes, preparing monthly financial statements and/or invoices with supporting documentation, comparing expenses to contracted budgeted amounts, for accuracy and variances within contract terms, and serving as a liaison between Finance, contract/grant managers, cost centers and programs. 

  • Supports Accounts Receivable and/or Accounts Payable functions as it relates to assigned cost centers, programs, and/or projects.

  • As necessary, assists in reviewing and providing support for monthly allocations of various organizational expenses; including periodic reviews of methodology and monthly journal entries.

Attributes for Success

  •  Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) required.

  •  Experience with Workday Adaptive Planning, and grant/fund accounting experience is preferred.

  •  Strategic and proactive thinking; ability to problem-solve and within and across teams to swiftly respond to needs identified across the California Community Colleges.

Budgeted Annual Salary Pay Range:

$68,000.00 - $78,000.00

Final salary and rates are based on education, experience, skills relevant to the role, and internal equity.
