POSITION SUMMARY
The Profile Specialist is responsible for the accurate and compliant creation of waste profiles for hazardous and non-hazardous materials. Working closely with internal teams and TSDF vendors, this role ensures waste streams are properly classified, documented, and approved for transport and disposal in accordance with regulatory requirements and customer environmental goals.
- Review and interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to identify physical, chemical, and hazardous characteristics of materials
- Create detailed waste profiles in SES and customer profiling systems that accurately describe waste streams, including composition, hazard class, physical state, and regulatory codes
- Coordinate sample delivery to 3rd party testing facilities
- Communicate directly with chemical manufacturers and customers to fill gaps in SDS sheets and ensure efficient, expeditious profile creation timelines
- Manage daily customer inquiries to profile new and existing waste streams. Determine if the waste stream can be captured under an existing profile or create accurate, complete profiles for new waste streams.
- Manage the profile creation timeline, creating and delivering complete, accurate profiles to Strategic Account Managers for customer signatures within two business days
- Manage solvent reuse waste streams: coordinate sample collection and analysis, partner with 3rd party compliance companies to produce SDSs, and create waste profiles.
- Coordinate the end-to-end profile recertification process through proactive partnership with customers, 3rdparty testing facilities, and Environmental Services team members:
- Proactively identify profiles nearing their expiry date
- Plan and execute annual sample testing, ensuring compliance with EPA requirements
- Capture and deliver samples to testing facilities as required
- Serve as the primary point of contact for 3rd party compliance companies to enable all aspects of audit processes. Research and deliver data to compliance companies, disseminate audit results across the Environmental Services team, and update profile records accordingly.
- Support customer-facing meetings, providing education and information on waste profiling processes, operations, and profile-specific data.
- Proactively communicate and partner with the Strategic Sourcing Manager – Profiled Waste to create profiles for complex waste streams, prioritizing efforts on opportunities that need the greatest level of cross-functional research.
- Communicate directly with customers regarding profile or vendor changes per the request of Strategic Account Managers
- Maintain SES’s historical profile documentation with a high level of accuracy and organization
- Maintain and continuously grow expertise in industry-leading waste profiling methods, technologies, and processes
Education and Experience
Required
- Experience with SDS interpretation, hazardous waste classification, or environmental compliance preferred
- Familiarity with RCRA, DOT, and TSDF protocols is strongly desired.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and environmental data management systems. Preferred
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, or related field preferred.

JOB DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Frequent walking, standing, and sitting for extended periods.
- Occasional lifting and moving of equipment up to X lbs (adjust as necessary).
- Ability to work in industrial environments, including exposure to loud noise, heavy machinery, and potential environmental hazards.
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under deadlines, analyze operational challenges, and make high-stakes decisions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to rapidly changing environments
- Travel required, including overnight stays as needed
