Job Description

The Opportunity

The College of Arts and Sciences (COAS), Daytona Beach Campus is seeking an innovative and dynamic leader to serve as the Associate Dean of Research (ADR). This position is pivotal in advancing the college's research enterprise and driving its strategic vision to support faculty, students, and external stakeholders in cutting-edge research endeavors. The ADR will provide leadership in fostering an environment that encourages interdisciplinary research, promotes scholarly productivity, and enhances collaboration across the college, university, and external organizations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership:
    Collaborate with the Dean to develop and implement a strategic vision for the college’s research activities. Foster a collaborative and interdisciplinary research environment across diverse fields within the College of Arts and Sciences.

  • Research Advancement and Support:
    Support faculty in the development and submission of grant proposals to secure external funding. Mentor faculty and students to enhance their research productivity and foster professional development.

  • Research Partnerships:
    Facilitate the establishment of research partnerships with industry, government agencies, and other academic institutions to strengthen the college’s research capabilities and impact.

  • Research Administration:
    Work closely with the Office of Sponsored Research to manage the college’s research budget and resources. Ensure compliance with university policies and external regulations. Provide regular reports on research outputs and achievements.

  • Faculty and Student Support:
    Promote student involvement in research activities by supporting both undergraduate and graduate research experiences. Organize workshops and seminars to create a vibrant, engaged research community within the college.

  • External Engagement:
    Serve as the liaison between the College of Arts and Sciences and university research offices, external funding agencies, and other key stakeholders. Represent the college in university-wide research initiatives and committees. Engage with alumni, donors, and external partners to build support for the college’s research mission.

Qualifications

Required Education and Qualifications:

  • PhD or equivalent terminal degree in a relevant field.
  • Eligibility for this position is limited to candidates who have attained the rank of Full Professor.
  • A distinguished record of research and scholarly achievements.
  • Demonstrated experience in securing external research funding.
  • Strong leadership and administrative skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
