The Product Manager – Financial Services is responsible for driving the strategy, development, and growth of these financial products. This role focuses on identifying market opportunities, closing product gaps, and translating customer needs into compelling financial solutions that increase adoption, engagement, and revenue. The role will work closely with internal teams and external partners to co-create products, shape the product roadmap, and position Telecel Cash as the preferred wallet for financial services in Ghana.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and drive the end-to-end strategy for financial services products.
- Identify market opportunities, customer needs, and industry trends to inform product development.
- Translate strategic objectives into a clear and actionable product roadmap.
- Champion financial services growth across the business.
- Design, develop, and launch innovative financial products across micro loans, savings, investments, insurance and other value-added financial products.
- Manage the full product lifecycle, from ideation to launch, optimization, and retirement.
- Continuously monitor product performance and drive improvements based on customer behaviour and data insights.
- Ensure product requirements are clearly defined and delivered in collaboration with Technology and Operations teams.
- Own and manage revenue targets for financial services products.
- Benchmark pricing against local and international markets to maximize profitability.
- Optimise product economics, balancing customer value with sustainable revenue growth.
- Own customer insights for financial services products by leveraging data, research, and frontline feedback.
- Translate customer pain points into product enhancements and new opportunities.
- Drive adoption, engagement, and retention through customer-centric product design.
- Identify, onboard, and manage strategic partners across banking, fin-tech, insurance, investment services and other value-added financial products
- Co-create products with partners and manage commercial and operational expectations.
- Monitor partner performance against agreed targets and SLAs. Develop and own go-to-market and marketing plans for financial services products.
- Work with Marketing and Sales teams to drive awareness, adoption, and usage.
- Ensure all financial products comply with AML, regulatory, and internal governance standards.
- Work closely with Risk, Compliance, and Legal teams to embed controls into product design.
- Act as the central point of coordination across Technology, Risk, Finance, Marketing, Operations, and external partners.
- Ensure timely and high-quality delivery of financial services initiatives.
Core Competencies, Knowledge, and Experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Product Management or a commercial role within a customer-facing environment.
- Strong understanding of product development and lifecycle management.
- Solid knowledge of mobile money and fintech services.
- Experience working with emerging market consumers.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured approach to decision-making.
- Results-driven self-starter with a strong sense of ownership.
- Excellent stakeholder management, influencing, and negotiation skills.
Must have Technical / Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or Business Administration.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a challenging or high-performance work environment.
- Prior experience within the mobile money ecosystem is required.
- Experience in the telecom industry is an added advantage but not mandatory.
Skills Required
