JOB SUMMARY:

The Production Technician will conduct strong working knowledge of body and chassis operations, controls, sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanical systems, start-up, and troubleshooting and be able to demonstrate strong safety leadership skills, follow safe work practices and work independently.

Pay Range: $23 - $37.44

YOUR IMPACT:  

These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

  • Repair McNeilus Refuse and/or Concrete Trucks and understand new and old control systems.

  • Act as a mentor for other technicians. Assist and teach others how to look up parts and service information, developing their understanding of the field techniques.

  • Diagnose, Repair, and Install CNG systems.

  • Resolve repetitive defects through investigation and corrective action.

  • Troubleshoot, Diagnose, and Test Electrical, Pneumatic and Hydraulic equipment to ensure proper working condition.

  • Test, check and adjust chassis and body control systems, both manually and with OEM software.

  • Demonstrate strong safety leadership skills and follow safe work practices.

  • Work closely with OEM’s to ensure proper programming and that corresponding specs are met.

  • Strong communication skills communicated professionally with customers and service employees to ensure timely diagnosis of issue.

  • Coordinate installation, testing and registration of customer supplied items such as Trimble GPS systems and camera systems.

  • Respond to unplanned / emergency truck down situations to provide technical support in the field.

  • Work with engineering in implementing and testing new controls technologies.

  • Follow all Safety procedures.

  • Work with MEIE when installing new options to create work instructions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Seven (7) or more years of experience in a heavy-duty truck, four (4) or more of those years in a manufacturing environment or an evaluated equivalent.

  • Ability to travel for training.

  • Successful passing of a welding test with a score of 70 or higher.

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Certification or degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance and/or related technical course.

  • Strong knowledge of OEM software, controls, sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanical systems, and trouble shooting.

  • Experience in OEM software and/or McNeilus software.

  • Experience in Can Bus systems.

  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of hand tools.

  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand both electrical and hydraulic schematics.

  • AutoCAD Certification.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Experience including comprehensive knowledge in the following areas:

    • Electrical and Hydraulic schematics

    • Able to utilize OEM software

    • PLC /software & hardware

    • Pneumatics & Hydraulics

    • Mechanical systems

    • Assist with production and quality items

    • System analysis & troubleshooting
