The Production Supervisor is a highly visible, hand-on leader who will spend the majority their time on the production floor, directly supervising and supporting team leaders and hourly associates.
The incumbent will drive operational excellence through real-time coaching, rapid problem solving, workflow optimization, and the removal of production barriers. The role is responsible for ensuring safety compliance, product quality, productivity performance, and housekeeping standards while fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Essential Functions
Safety Management
- Promotes a safe working environment by ensuring the proper use of safety devices and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Reports all safety hazards, incidents, and near misses immediately. Assists with safety hazards, incidents and near miss investigations and reporting, as well as the implementation of corrective actions.
- Ensures that team members complete all required safety training.
Leadership & Communication
- Leads daily shift meetings to communicate production performance, delivery status, quality metrics, overtime needs, safety and security updates, and upcoming events.
- Tracks attendance, manages time-off scheduling, and ensures compliance with company attendance policies and procedures.
- Provides consistent leadership in the application of the employee handbook, company work rules, policies and procedures.
Staffing & Performance Management
- Manages the daily staffing and production output to meet or exceed productivity goals. Adjusts work center assignments as needed to ensure all production gaps are accounted for.
- Sets clear expectations and provides directions for hourly and temporary employees.
- Motivates team members and maintains a high-performance culture
Training & Development
- Ensures all employees are properly trained and equipped with necessary tools and PPE to effectively perform their jobs. Holds associates accountable for meeting and/or exceeding Hendrickson safety and performance expectations.
- Identifies employees who may need additional training or retraining.
- Identifies cross-training opportunities for all associates.
- Maintains and updates all employee training records for individual and/or group training.
- Coaches team members on productivity, teamwork, conduct standards, and QPDS metrics (Quality, Productivity, Delivery, Safety).
- Provides ongoing support and training to help the team meet productivity goals.
Production & Quality Management
- Oversees production to meet or exceed schedules and customer/design specifications while minimizing scrap and defects.
- Participates in problem-solving activities using 8D methodology to identify root causes and implements corrective actions.
- Ensures corrective actions are effectively implemented and sustained.
Operational Support
- Contributes to production planning, quality system development, and implementation of new processes and systems.
- Supports employee training and development initiatives.
Continuous Improvement
- Drives continuous improvement initiatives within the production area.
- Maintains 5S/6S and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) standards.
- Identifies and implements Lean manufacturing improvements to enhance Quality, Productivity, Delivery, Safety, and Cost (QPDSC) performance.
- Actively participates in Manufacturing Excellence initiatives.
Education and Training
High school diploma or equivalent is required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or STEM concentration preferred.
Minimum Qualifications
Five to Seven (5-7) years of supervisory experience required with a minimum of three (3) years of hands-on production supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment. Must be familiar with Quality systems and processes, Lean Manufacturing, OSHA and other Safety regulations.
Must have good computer skills and experience using Microsoft applications.

Skills Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
