Overview:
The Cold-End Attendant is responsible for operating and maintaining equipment used in the production and packaging of insulation materials. This role ensures that all products meet quality standards and production goals are achieved efficiently and safely.
Responsibilities:
- Adjust and maintain auto baggers and bag placers to ensure proper packaging.
- Monitor equipment for malfunctions or unusual conditions and take corrective action or notify the appropriate personnel.
- Inspect products for defects such as improper cure, binder distribution, wet spots, foreign objects, improper thickness or density, dirt, damage, and poor quality.
- Checks bag labels, date codes, and IDs to ensure accuracy.
- Take corrective action if any packaging equipment is producing defective products.
- Handling duties related to the HERM machine or Blowing Wool Machine, including preparing, inspecting, removing, packing, scrapping, or disposing of materials.
- Remove completed rolls/bags of insulation from packaging equipment, accurately weigh and record them, wrap or pack products according to prescribed methods and stack them on pallets, trucks, or designated areas.
- Prepare packaging materials for bag placers, roll products, strappers, and cubers. Making and applying labels as needed.
- Handle recycling duties and repackaging salvageable materials. All material that is out of specification, loose or damaged should be taken to blowing wool or baler for disposal.
- Assist in starting up, changing over, and shutting down machines, as well as cleaning equipment.
- Safely clearing jams in equipment using proper tools and lockout procedures.
- Assist in the setup, operation and monitoring of various cold end equipment during production runs or product changes.
- Relieves other positions as required.
- Remains on assigned job until relieved.
- Performs other related duties as directed.
Requirements:
- Ability to operate and maintain various types of machinery.
- Withstand periods of time standing, lifting and repetitive physical tasks.
- Committed to safety and demonstrates a positive safety attitude.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and protocols.
