As a Production Planner, you’ll translate customer orders into a work schedule involving several sequential operations. You will also control various production factors to ensure balanced and leveled loads; appropriate utilization of available capacity (labor, tools and equipment); and bottleneck management, allowing for a controlled flow of approved materiel to meet delivery requirements.
What you’ll do:
Analyzes production specifications to determine process flows/routings, labor, and materiel requirements
Plans, schedules, and adjusts workflow based on established sequences, lead times, and changing priorities
Coordinates, monitors, and expedites the movement of parts, supplies, and materiel within and across business units to ensure on-time delivery
Revises and reschedules production to address rush orders, material shortages, vendor delays, and shifting customer priorities
Expedites delayed operations and manages back-ordered parts to secure shipping timelines and maintain production flow
Acts as a liaison between production, purchasing, shipping, receiving, and management to ensure efficient material flow and operations
Communicates status of work in progress, material availability, and production issues to management to support resource planning
Prepares and maintains reports on production progress, material usage, and performance metrics using manual or automated systems
Supports production operations by performing material handling functions and serving as an expeditor of workflow and processes
Leads or supports daily production meetings as needed, drives process improvements, ensures safety compliance, and completes special projects as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required
2–3 years of experience in production planning and/or scheduling
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel (e.g., data entry, basic formulas), Word, and PowerPoint.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation, for approximately 25% of the workday.
