About Us

Teledyne Energetics UK have been designing and developing solutions for the safety, arming, and initiation technology sector since 1984. This includes military energetic devices from components through to complete systems. Some of the flagship product lines include active vehicle safety systems, sea mine fuzes, modular artillery fuzes, flight termination units, electronic Safe & Arm Units, and electronic Ignition Safety Devices. Originally part of the Teledyne e2v family, Teledyne Energetics also delivers a range of services to its global customer base. Design services include modelling and testing of fully packaged circuitry for control and initiation of detonators, which are carried out at our fully licensed site at Lincoln. Production Manager

The Production Manager is responsible for leading and optimising all manufacturing operations within the production environment, ensuring that production output meets agreed production plans, customer demand, quality standards, and cost targets. The role focuses on driving operational efficiency, continuous improvement, and team performance.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning & Execution

  • Deliver the production plan in line with the agreed S&OP demand plan

  • Ensure adherence to schedules, priorities, and takt(cycle) times

  • Monitor daily output performance and address deviations proactively

  • Collaborate with Planning, Procurement, and Engineering to ensure smooth execution

  • Ensure all production hours are captured and logged to the correct project ID

  • Ensure all ERP (SAP) transactions/process are completed on time and accurately 

Team Leadership & Absence Management

  • Lead, develop, and manage production teams

  • Proactively manage absence, attendance, and workforce availability to protect delivery

  • Ensure sufficient cover, cross-training, and resilience within teams

  • Set clear objectives and performance expectations aligned to business KPIs

  • Drive a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement

  • Manage staffing levels, skills matrix, and training plans

  • Conduct regular performance reviews and implement corrective actions

  • Ensure all team members are trained, compliant, and operating safely at all times

Continuous Improvement (CI)

  • Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives (5S, Kaizen, waste reduction)

  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce cost

  • Support introduction of new technologies and automation where applicable

  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) on recurring issues

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure all production activities comply with:

    • Quality standards

    • Regulatory requirements

  • Work closely with Quality teams to resolve non-conformance issues

  • Promote a “right first time” culture

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

  • Ensure all operations meet health & safety standards

  • Lead by example in promoting a safe working environment

  • Embed safety into daily operations (tier meetings, start-up briefs, performance reviews)

  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure controls are in place

  • Investigate incidents and implement preventative measures

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with:

    • Demand & Supply Manager

    • Procurement / Materials

    • Engineering & NPI teams

    • Logistics / Stores

  • Support new product introductions and productionisation activities

Capacity & Resource Management

  • Support the Demand and Supply Manager to ensure production capacity aligns with demand requirements

  • Identify constraints and escalate risks early

  • Manage equipment utilisation and downtime (alongside Maintenance)

  • Support capital investment planning

Cost Control & Budget Management

  • Manage labour and operational costs within agreed budgets

  • Identify cost-saving initiatives

  • Minimise waste, scrap, and inefficiencies

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in a Production Manager or similar role (manufacturing environment)

  • Strong leadership and people management skills

  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP)

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical capability

  • Experience in regulated industries (aerospace, defence, electronics) preferred
