Procurement Group Manager - Production

The Procurement Group Manager - Production is responsible for leading procurement activity that supports uninterrupted supply to manufacturing sites, while delivering value through cost control, supplier performance, risk management, quality management and process improvement. The role leads the production procurement team, partners closely with operations, planning, quality and logistics, and supports procurement strategy execution across the production supply base, with particular focus on supply continuity, supplier performance, and P2P process effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure continuity of supply of externally sourced materials and components to manufacturing sites in line with production requirements.

  • Liaise and collaborate with key stakeholders and provide escalation management for shortages, quality concerns, and supplier-related disruption.

  • The implementation, monitoring and reporting of team performance against processes, procedures & objectives

  • Focus on continuous improvement to improve productivity and mitigate unplanned delays through the supply chain

  • Lead, develop, and coach the production procurement team to ensure capability and succession planning

  • Drive the ongoing development and improvement of procurement strategies & procedures aligned to business and procurement objectives.

  • To continually monitor and evaluate supply chains and market information to ensure all outsourced supply chains are commercially competitive, robust and risk managed in order.

  • To work closely with the Supply Chain Development to ensure that existing and new supply chains are aligned to commodity strategies and performance objectives.

  • Support the implementation of the procurement strategy and deliver against aims with a particular focus on procurement processes and staff training.

Key requirements

  • Experience of managing, driving, and developing supplier and stakeholder relationships within a complex technical/regulated environment.

  • Able to demonstrate mentoring or coaching experience, achieving success and developing junior members of a team.

  • Able to demonstrate a successful record of negotiating with suppliers to meet organisational targets.

  • Experience of implementing various approaches and strategies to meet functional objectives and KPIs.

  • Able to demonstrate a high standard of ethics and integrity.

  • CIPS qualification or relevant STEM/Business Degree would be advantageous, but not essential.
