Job Description

Principal Accountabilities

Responsible for all Production Department activities such as production operations, safety, quality, maintenance of equipment, and C.I.   Directs production operations to ensure cost effectiveness, efficiency, and consistency with prescribed quality and other Performance measurements (KPIs).

This role must lead, manage, and train production staff, including operators, technicians, leads and other production employees.   Must foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Evaluate employee performance and provide feedback or additional training as needed.

Must identify opportunities for improving production efficiency, reducing waste, and increasing throughput.  Implement lean manufacturing principles and other process improvement strategies.   Analyze data to drive decisions on plant performance.   

Reviews production orders and/or schedules to ascertain product data in order to plan department operations and ensure customer (s) deadlines are met as well as product specifications.

Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards. Ensures machinery and equipment are well-maintained and functioning efficiently.  Oversee preventive maintenance schedules to avoid unplanned downtime.  Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate repairs or replacements.

Reviews production and operation reports to ensure minimum costs, customer concerns, and prevent operational delays.   Complies, stores and reviews all production data.

Responsible for monitoring and ensuring positive morale and discipline through fairness and impartiality.  Effectively handles all employee concerns, suggestions, questions and conflicts.

Implement cost effective systems of controls for capital, operating expenditures, manpower, and wages.

Conducts all work in accordance with the established quality management system to ensure product quality and continual improvement.

Maintains safe working conditions by taking corrective action on unsafe conditions or acts.  Responsible for ensuring incident reports and associated corrective actions are completed in an accurate and timely manner.   Ensure all employees follow all OHSE requirements.

Any other tasks or projects as required by management.

Qualifications/Requirements

Formal Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree from four year college or university with 7-10 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience must be in gravure printing with a thorough knowledge of production.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk or hear; and smell.

The employee frequently is required to stand, sit, and reach with hands and arms.

The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Must be able to travel both domestically and internationally.
