PRODUCTION COORDINATOR

What can you expect?

We are seeking a Production Coordinator to lead the production team and ensure smooth operation of the production lines with particular focus on production targets.

This role operates in a complex manufacturing environment with high product mix, strict customer standards, and strong operational discipline.

As the local team, we have full integration to the regional SAF Adient structure with most support functions leadership based in South Africa.

Objective of the Function

Responsible for production and quality assurance, general efficiency and job training of new employees

What will your responsibilities be?

  • Act as a communication champion and ensure that the drive for a positive employee relations environment is maintained.
  • Ensure that Adient's Vision is upheld at all levels.
  • Responsible for the adherence of all BOS, HSE and other quality related legal procedures.
  • Production performance monitoring and trend analysis with corrective actions for negative trends
  • Assures adequate staffing and training to execute operational plans
  • Responsible for the planning and control of production, scheduling work through the plant, the supply and delivery of raw materials and components to achieve the maximum utilization of the plant, equipment and labour
  • Setting delivery schedules and ensuring that they are met
  • Co-ordinate production methods and systems to evaluate and improve operating efficiencies and ensure potential cost savings are achieved.
  • Responsible for improving operating standards, efficiency and cost-saving projects.
  • Maintain and control all required administration for the department.
  • Actively assist the manufacturing engineering department in new model planning and control of model changes.
  • Perform adhoc duties as and when required
  • Lead, guide and support production team leaders and Master builders to carry out their duties effectively
  • Ensure that all 5S activities are carried-out with the support of Team leaders
  • Work closely with the line monitor to ensure all concerns at the customer are addressed on time with no negative impact
  • Maintain training and proficiency records of all production employees  
  • Participate in all problem-solving activities as part of the cross-functional team
  • Ensure accurate and on-time reporting of production performance to plant management
  • Ensure that all buffers are kept full at all the times customer and internal
  • Maintain discipline on the shop floor as per company policy and procedure.
  • Manage time management on the shop floor at start, lunch and end of the shift.
  • Motivate and encourage the team to engage on the issues and come up with solutions.
  • Manage workforce that is unionized and be able to handle stewards.
  • Diploma in Operations Management or related field
  • 3 Years’ manufacturing experience
  • Experience in automotive environment is an added advantage
