PURPOSE
Responsible for coordinating Vent Department production scheduling and administration to support customer commitments and operational efficiency. Oversees MRP transactions and production reporting to ensure accurate inventory, material usage, and production time records. Partners with Production, Planning, Warehouse, and other support functions to coordinate resources, resolve production constraints, and train employees on proper MRP processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains an active role in promoting safe work habits and reducing OSHA recordable accidents
- Schedules machinery and personnel to meet schedule demands, partnering with scheduling dept. to ensure customer commitments are efficiently met.
- Coordinates with warehouse ensuring materials are ready for machines prior to changeover to maintain goal of three jobs/2 days of running ability on site at all times. Immediately escalating impediments to Department Manager
- Administers the production reporting system to ensure that raw material, machine time and produced material units are accurately identified, and reported.
- Investigates reporting discrepancies and provides ongoing feedback to Operations Associates to improve reporting accuracy.
- Ensures production jobs are closed out, and whipped within four hours of completion.
- Reviews all relevant records (Closed Job Report, Job folders) to ensure time and materials have been charged properly, investigating any potential errors to correct and recommend measures to prevent reoccurrences to Department Manager..
- Coordinates production activities through manufacturing management, production planning, customer service, shipping, and operational support areas in order to meet schedule commitments.
- Communicates with all shifts to build consistency in production reporting, includes training for continuous improvements in reporting accuracy.
- Monitors scrap trends and communicates with operation associates and department manager for improvements.
- Coordinates and assist with physical inventories with Shipping and Receiving Manager to ensure accurate and efficient outcomes.
- Works with operation associates, Quality Assurance, Engineering on identification and resolution of non-conforming materials.
- Provides training & feedback to Operation Associates for posting related errors--escalating serious infractions to Department Manager as needed.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE PREFERRED
- Thorough knowledge of Vent Department manufacturing processes from order entry through finished goods warehousing.
- Proficient with the manufacturing iRen, Global Soft, and MRP and Ticket Printing system.
- Ability to work accurately with PC based software, e.g. word processing, Power Point, E-mail software, Lotus Notes, and Excel.
- Ability to work accurately with numbers and job shift reports.
- Possess proven analytical and decision-making ability.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and with other departments within the company.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE PREFERRED
- Three years of experience with manufacturing MRP systems and Inventory control procedures
- Demonstrated success training personnel
