The Production Control Specialist supports material planning, logistics, and optimization tasks to ensure timely procurement, efficient material flow, and space utilization. This role involves coordinating with suppliers, optimizing packaging specifications, and ensuring materials are available to meet production schedules and shipping requirements.  This is a 2nd Shift Position.  2:20PM - 11:00PM.

Job Details

  • Support production activities in collaboration with superiors, following assigned work instructions.
  • Plan and manage material procurement activities based on production schedules and customer requirements.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery of materials and address any issues related to delays or quality concerns.
  • Oversee the receipt and inspection of incoming materials, ensuring they meet quality and quantity standards.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels to avoid shortages or overstock situations, ensuring smooth production flow.
  • Analyze and optimize material packaging specifications to improve cost-efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure safe transport and storage.
  • Evaluate and optimize material flow and layout within the production facility to enhance efficiency and minimize handling time.
  • Quickly report any quality issues encountered during the production process and contribute to problem resolution.
  • Adjust personnel assignments and provide simple training as necessary to ensure operators adhere to safety and quality standards.
  • Manage material storage, handling, and flow within the production facility to align with safety and efficiency standards.
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders for materials and components required for production.
  • Track and manage material orders, updating production schedules as necessary.
  • Collaborate with production and logistics teams to align material availability with shipping and production plans.
  • Support 5S activities (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records, including inventory reports, purchase orders, and supplier performance.
  • Assist with equipment and facility maintenance as part of a preventative maintenance program.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and procedures and proactively address potential hazards in the workplace.
  • Demonstrate equipment operations and safety procedures to new employees or assign employees to experienced workers for training.
  • Observe workflow and processes, and monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure operators conform to production, processing, and/or quality standards.
  • Provides direction, development and leadership to floor associates.
  • Utilize ERP (SAP or similar systems) for material planning and inventory management.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to optimize material flow, layout, and packaging processes.
  • Skills and knowledge within the automotive seating industry (experience in the seating industry is an advantage, but not a "must have")
  • Leadership skills and experience
  • Basic skills in business economics and time and motion studies
  • Broad knowledge of OSHA and workplace health and safety programs
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of quality systems
  • Understanding of ASN, EDI, Material Handling, inventory and logistics
  • Complete understanding of the MS Office Suite including MS Project

Position Requirements and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in material planning, procurement, or logistics within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP preferred) and MS Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Manufacturing, Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
