We are looking for a hands-on and driven Production Assistant (Nursery) to support daily farm and nursery operations. This role works closely with the Production Manager and Estate Manager to execute production plans, supervise farmworkers, and ensure optimal crop output and quality.

Key Performance Outputs
Field Supervision
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of farm workers
- Monitor productivity and quality standards
- Provide training, guidance, and hands-on support
- Assist with onboarding seasonal workers
Hands-on Farm Work
Participate in:
- Blueberry harvesting and quality selection
- Planting, pruning, and trellising
- Irrigation setup and monitoring
- Fertiliser and crop protection applications
- Conduct field checks for plant health, pests, and irrigation issues
Nursery Supervision
- Oversee nursery operations: propagation, watering, fertilising, pest control
- Monitor plant quality and health standards
- Supervise nursery staff and seasonal workers
- Maintain stock records, plant labelling, and inventory
- Support packing plants for export markets
Operational Support
- Assist with daily and weekly planning
- Track harvest volumes, yields, and worker performance
- Maintain accurate production records and timesheets
- Support logistics between field and packing operations
- Identify and suggest improvements for efficiency
Resource Management
- Ensure correct usage and maintenance of tools and equipment
- Monitor supplies such as fertilisers, irrigation components, and picking trays
- Promote efficient use of water and resources
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Maintain food safety and hygiene standards
- Ensure use of proper PPE
- Support compliance with agricultural regulations
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Certificate VI, Diploma, or Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, or related field
- Basic knowledge of farm management systems and Microsoft Office
- Minimum 2 years’ relevant farm production experience
- Exposure to soft fruit / low chill varieties (advantageous)
- Experience across farming activities from land preparation to harvesting
