Job Description
The Product Owner will be responsible for eliciting and documenting requirements through user story creation, defining acceptance criteria, understanding the overall business need, managing the product backlog as well as leading solutioning discussions. The ideal candidate will be proactive, curious, detail oriented, and possess strong communication and facilitation skills.
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Communicate project status updates with the appropriate level of communication to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Run effective meetings with cross functional teams encouraging participation from all attendees
  • Conduct formal and informal presentations utilizing requirement and/or technical documents, use case diagrams, process flows, UX mockups, etc.
  • Communicate complex information using a variety of techniques tailored to the audience's background
  • Interact with and influence a diverse set of individuals and groups in a range of situations
  • Effectively manage both the product and sprint backlogs for the purpose of driving efficient use of resource bandwidth
  • Foster a collaborative approach to collect ongoing feedback and opinions with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Elicit, document, and maintain functional, non-functional, and system requirements through user story creation, defining of acceptance criteria, and process flows within Jira and Confluence applications
  • Conduct Interviews and JAD sessions with stakeholders, demonstrating:
      • Interviewing techniques
      • Asking "probing" questions
      • Active listening and discovery skills to understand "real" issues/needs and build rapport
  • Responsible for end-to-end launch of product feature updates
  • Work in an Agile environment and continuously review the business needs, refine priorities, outline milestones and deliverables, and identify opportunities and risks
  • Lead the review of stakeholder documentation to ensure the appropriate level of traceability
  • Perform reviews of other analyst's user stories, acceptance criteria, mock-ups, and diagrams to ensure project consistency and successful delivery
  • Lead and coach others on how to analyze, synthesize, and refine elicitation results into requirements and designs
  • Responsible for project scope, expectations, and oversight during all phase of the project lifecycle
  • Act as post-launch Subject Matter Expert for internal and external contacts
  • Acquire knowledge of business processes, business objectives and applications of the client program
  • Perform analysis of solution options, research alternative solutions, estimate project size effort (in resources and hours) and deliver proposals with recommendations to key stakeholders
  • Work with the technical design teams to refine solutions based on the features, architecture and constraints of the relevant platforms
  • Conduct pre-sales assessment and proposed solution activities with prospective clients and product management
  • Mentor analysts on how to use the input from all stakeholders to make the most informed decisions
  • May assist in interviewing of potential new hires
  • May assist in all levels of supervision and may perform management functions
  • Professionally develop members of the team:
      • Provide regular, constructive feedback, guidance, and support
      • Identify training and development needs
      • Ensure depth in application and technology expertise


May provide input into annual and semi-annual reviews
Required

  • A combination of 7 to 10+ years' experience as a Business Systems Analyst and Product Owner (with at least 2+ years in a dedicated Product Owner role).
  • Loyalty and/or Travel industry experience or Ecommerce Platform.
  • 2+ years of experience working with the Jira application
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or equivalent experience
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Interpersonal skills including the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong elicitation and Interviewing skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization
  • Ability to adapt, embrace, and lead through change
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage others
  • In-depth knowledge of technologies including SQL, XML and web application concepts
  • Possesses strong relationship management skills and the ability to act as a single point of contact for clients on all project-related matters
  • Proven delivery of medium to large scale projects with varying degrees of complexity
  • Understanding of various development methodology concepts
  • Requires the ability to quickly understand the stakeholders wants and needs (and to differentiate between the two)


Preferred

  • AWS Cloud Certification or equivalent experience
