Location:
New York, NYWIRED is seeking a Product Writer and Reviewer to test, review, and write about consumer technology products. A writer in this role will focus on products across a range of categories that will be assigned based on the candidate’s experience. Possible categories including computing/mobile devices, audio/video hardware, smart-home devices, outdoor gear, and desktop and mobile software.
Responsibilities:
The Product Writer will write a mix of reviews, buying guides, how tos, deals roundups, and features. They will also pitch ideas for upcoming content. The ideal candidate will be a conversational writer who's confident and careful when reviewing products and can describe the pros and cons of any given item with conviction. Content should be resonant with WIRED’s voice.
Write, edit, and/or refresh 3-4 pieces of 900+ word content per week: A mix of full-length reviews, buying guides, gift guides, news/feature articles, and deals coverage
Research to ensure that product choices are on trend and on brand
Provide valuable reader service by making useful buying recommendations
Pitch new content each week, request new products for review, and thoroughly test products
Apply SEO and commerce linking best practices to written content
Organize and manage your own time efficiently, take initiative, and communicate effectively
This is also a full-time telecommute position. It is also an interdepartmental role. You would be a member of WIRED’s editorial reviews team and also a member of Conde Nast’s Commerce department. Experience writing and/or editing consumer-focused product reviews and guides is needed, as is a love for personal technology and a desire to help readers find the best products (and make the most of them).
