What You Will Contribute:
This position will be responsible for working directly with the Product Manager, under direction from the Marketing Manager, and is involved in supporting all aspects of product life cycle management, including: product line analytics, competitive analysis, , pricing, forecasting, promotion and collateral support. The core product lines being supported in this role are Utility meters and AMR/AMI communication devices in support of Municipal Water segment.
Major Job Duties/Accountability:
- Assist in the development of short and long range business plans for the product line consistent with market needs and corporate strategic plans
- Develop an understanding of the assigned product architecture and offerings well enough to answer common customer/sales questions unaided and support RFP responses.
- Support and observe customer interviews and synthesize Voice of Customer (VoC) themes; monitor third party research sources for relevant content impacting the product line; participate in win-loss calls to understand common threads across commercial opportunity outcomes.
- Support product life cycle management as directed by the Marketing Manager predominantly via the tracking of feature release status against plans.
- Coordinate with internal partners to implement plans as directed by the Marketing Manager
- Assist with product pricing policies based on established gross margin objectives and assist with preparation of plans for margin improvement where necessary
- Assist in the development of marketing specifications as appropriate
- Track competitor activity, prepare competitive analysis (ex. Battlecard tools) for assigned products and support the formulation of competitive counter strategies for new and existing products
- Assist in the development of product promotional items and collateral including product literature, product training and product distribution plans to achieve Business Plan objectives for assigned products
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college
- 1 – 3 years’ experience in product management support role
- Basic financial literacy; can generally understand a P&L and how product decisions impact volume, revenue and margin
- Advanced skill level in MS Word and MS Outlook
- Intermediate skill level in MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, MS Visio
