Product Specialist, NZ

We are currently seeking a motivated Product Specialist to join our Category Management & Proprietary Brands team and be based out of our East Tamaki office in Auckland. Reporting to the Director Category Management & Proprietary Brands, APAC and working closely with the NZ Category Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a marketing and sales strategy for Provet’s private label and exclusive segment and to support achievement of sales targets in NZ. This role would suit someone with experience in product marketing or a Category Assistant or Buying Assistant who wants to pursue a career down Product Management within a large, international business.

Your main responsibilities will include –

• Supporting the Category Manager NZ and Product Managers with the development of business plans for assigned brands, exclusives and their markets.
• Staying across the market, trends, and customer development to identify potential new private label and exclusive products.
• Ensuring the correct product mix is achieved, accurate price positioning and maintenance, forecasting, promotional activity, competitor analysis, tracking and reporting.
• Sales analysis and supporting with reporting requirements.
• Maintaining communication with vendors, suppliers, internal stakeholders regarding supply, price, discontinuation etc.
• Escalating any critical issues to the Category Manager NZ including Out Of Stock, vendor price updates, marketplace intelligence etc.

About You

To be successful you will have;

• Bachelor degree in Marketing and/or Business (preferred) coupled with three years experience in category, buying and/or product marketing.
• Demonstrated experience within the animal health industry and/or specific experience in managing a portfolio of consumables/disposables products.
• Strong skills in MS Office and exposure to Power BI will be advantageous.
• Effective negotiating skills and the ability to network and influence people internally and externally.
• Experience in managing large data sets as well as sound quantitative ability and knowledge of margin, calculations, buying and purchasing practices.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence with both internal teams and external suppliers.
