Position: Product OwnerLocation: BermudaHybrid - 2 -3 days in office.Hiscox is hiring a Product Owner to join our Re & ILS business unit. We have ambitious growth plans that will need innovative business capabilities, enabled by technology and data. This is an incredible opportunity to play a key role in driving solutions that will allow our overall vision and goals to be achieved. Our Product Owners will help us transition from planning forward a couple of sprints to strategically looking forward a couple of years. Initiatives can vary from large scale system delivery, digital transformation, new ventures, regulatory changes to smaller, tactical solutions that open up business opportunities. Working on our team is exciting and fast-paced. We shape and build the future of the Re & ILS. You will work closely with the Re and ILS business, and be embedded in the cross functional Value Stream, to ensure that product enhancements and change requests are prioritised and seen through to completion. Working within a value stream, the Product Owner is responsible for the day-to-day delivery of sprint goals, in line with the product roadmap. The team is curious and inquisitive, challenging ourselves and our stakeholders to do things better, faster or more cost effectively.Key responsibilitiesProduct Strategy & Roadmap:
- Responsible for working with stakeholders and SMEs to build a multi-year product vision and roadmap, based on market and customer needs and robust business cases
- Develop and implement go to market strategies.
- Provide feedback on the roadmap to the Sponsor, escalating risks, issues and blockers raised by the delivery team and advising on actual vs. expected progress and any knock-on impact to the product roadmap
Product Backlog Management:
- Define, own and proactively manage the product backlog, ensuring there is a steady flow of work for the delivery team aligned to the objectives of the product roadmap
- Capture requirements as increments of delivery and refine with the delivery team; ensure they are well thought through with clear acceptance criteria to ensure requirements are met
- Conduct workshops and analysis to design and define delivery iterations, gather requirements, assess value, ensure work is prioritised and focused on delivering maximum value to our customers
- Prioritise effectively across Strategic & Operational needs, maintaining an appropriate balance in line with business appetite for growth vs risk.
Subject Matter Expertise:
- Act as the voice of the customer, ensuring everyone understands the business value of the delivery increments and represent the needs of our customers on a day to day basis within the delivery team
Teamwork / Relationship management:
- Be the first point of contact for the delivery team to answer questions, clarify requirements and remove blockers
- Attend and participate in Agile events – stand ups, refinement, planning and retrospectives and work with the Scrum Master to ensure that these are successful
- Motivate a delivery team (in a matrix organisation) across internal and external teams, including third party suppliers
- Build strong, productive relationships inside and outside of Hiscox in order to deliver effective solutions based on a strong understanding of the business drivers and benefits for each party
- Manage key stakeholder relationships and communicate effectively to keep them informed

- Experience working on large, complex projects, programmes or products with proven ability to deliver lasting value to stakeholders
- Experience operating in a challenging organisational environment with a requirement to balance differing priorities and demands whilst ensuring that change and product management disciplines are maintained
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- An aptitude for customer centric problem solving and challenging the status quo
- Experience of working in Agile delivery teams, managing a backlog and ensuring business value is prioritised, successfully delivered and embedded
- Financial services / fund management / insurance experience.
Nice to have
- Knowledge or experience of Insurance industry or Lloyd’s of London
- Certified Agile Product Owner
- Experience working with Jira, Confluence or similar collaboration tools
