What we do:

The Risk Group's mission is to help the Bank achieve its goals while managing risks within the Bank's risk tolerance. The Business Risk Advisory & Support (BRA&S) function aligns closely with business stakeholders as a strategic partner to proactively address and mitigate potential risks to the Bank. The Controls Assurance team ensures that key controls within the Bank are identified, designed and operating effectively to mitigate key risks.

Reporting to the Risk Group’s Chief Product Officer, the Product Owner will support and use risk management technologies to help the Bank more effectively and efficiently manage risks across the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

The Product Owner works in close collaboration with the Chief Product Owner, Risk Functions, Business Groups, and other risk partners. Creates the roadmap for product(s) and defines its vision and priorities. Understands business and builds close relationships within it to ensure that the development squad's delivery plan is aligned with business needs and the Risk Group's strategic roadmap. Works closely within squad(s) and developers to ensure business value is achieved and user feedback is translated into new developments, when necessary.

Additionally key areas of focus include data management and analytics for risk metrics and tolerances, risk events, risk and control assessments, control testing and risk dashboard visualization.

Your role as a Risk Group Product Owner:

As a Product Owner within the Risk Group, your daily focus may shift with business needs, but you’ll be expected to demonstrate a proficiency in these key areas:

Product Strategy and Vision

  • Defining and communicating a clear product vision and respective roadmaps with measurable outcomes that are aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Working with technology partners to ensure integration to the Bank technology roadmap.
  • Working with delivery squad(s) and technology partners to design and deliver new or complex products and capabilities.
  • Designing and integrating usability studies and research into product requirements to enhance user satisfaction and experience, ensuring a customer-driven design.

Product Management

  • Managing a backlog of product enhancements and ensuring continuous flow of user stories for the development team.
  • Defining and maintaining a clear product roadmap, outlining key milestones, timelines, upcoming releases, prioritizing product backlogs and deliverables for the development and enhancement of Risk products
  • Understands the lifecycle of a product and defines what to develop as new features, what to maintain, what to improve, and what to retire regarding their product.

Stakeholder Management

  • Effectively build relationships, influence / drive decision-making, and become a trusted advisor.
  • Represent the voice of customer in the Risk Group and across the Bank and advocate for their needs throughout the product lifecycle.

Agile Practices

  • Partner with the technical teams including the delivery squad scrum master to enable the Agile way of working through spring planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.
  • Capable of translating all business requirements clearly to the team. This is done by translating requirements into sprint plans and working as a sounding board when making decisions on delivering the actual product.

Data Management, Analytics and Visualization

  • Ability to articulate our data strategy for analytics and visualization into a roadmap and plan
  • Determine appropriate milestones and manage delivery plan of Risk data strategy to integrate various data sets, partner with technical partners to ingest data, ensure quality of integration and develop visualization reporting

What are we looking for:

Strong experience as a Product Owner using Agile methodologies:

  • Expert understanding of Agile methodologies, preferably Agile Certified Agile Product Owner
  • Agile and DevOps methodology: backlog grooming, sprint planning
  • Experience influencing and managing cross-work functional workstreams to execute projects with quality and on-time.
  • Experience gathering and translating technical requirements that have clarity for Agile teams to implement
  • Experience integrating systems with third-party service vendors
  • Excellent consensus-building, communication, organizational, and planning skills.

Salary Range: $105000 - $160000 / year
