Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Product Owner to define, prioritize, and manage the product backlog, ensuring development efforts align with business objectives and customer needs. The Product Owner will serve as a key liaison between stakeholders, design, development, QA, support, sales, marketing, and subject matter experts to translate strategic goals and customer requirements into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and actionable work for development teams. This role is responsible for helping deliver high-quality features and enhancements through agile execution, continuous collaboration, and strong ownership of the product lifecycle. The ideal candidate will bring a strong product background, an innovation mindset, the ability to drive change in a matrixed environment, and experience working with both B2B and B2C software products. This person should be comfortable balancing customer needs, business priorities, technical feasibility, and delivery timelines while communicating effectively across cross-functional teams.

Industry experience in multifamily property management software is a plus. This role is within ResMan’s Affordable Product Team; knowledge of Federal LIHTC regulations and Tax Credit state agency requirements is highly desirable.
What You’ll Do (Functions & Responsibilities)
- Own, manage, prioritize, refine, and maintain the product backlog to ensure the team works on the highest-value items.
- Translate product strategy, customer needs, business requirements, and stakeholder input into well-defined user stories, acceptance criteria, and actionable development tasks.
- Collaborate with engineering throughout sprint planning, daily standups, backlog grooming, sprint reviews, retrospectives, demos, and release preparation.
- Clarify requirements, answer development questions, remove ambiguity, and make timely decisions to support delivery progress.
- Partner with Training, Support, SMEs, Sales, and Marketing to support knowledge transfer, customer readiness, internal enablement, release communications, webinars, and go-to-market execution.
- Validate completed work against acceptance criteria, customer expectations, usability standards, and product goals.
- Communicate delivery status, risks, dependencies, trade-offs, and bottlenecks to stakeholders and leadership.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve product quality, customer experience, operational efficiency, and business value.
What We’re Looking For (Minimum qualifications)
- 2+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, Product Manager, or similar role in an Agile/Scrum software or technology environment.
- Strong understanding of product development lifecycle, backlog management, agile delivery practices, user stories, acceptance criteria, and prioritization techniques.
- Proven UI/UX experience, including enhancing existing features, improving workflows, gathering user feedback, and collaborating with design teams.
- Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across matrixed teams.
- Demonstrated ability to lead discussions, work independently, take initiative, manage competing priorities, and make thoughtful product decisions.
- Ability to learn and use collaboration, product, design, analytics, and delivery tools such as Aha, Jira, Asana, Figma, Pendo, Google Analytics, Salesforce, or similar platforms.
- Experience with SaaS, cloud-based, B2B, or B2C software products preferred.
- Ability to travel up to 10% as business needs require.
Additional Qualifications (Desirable Industry Knowledge)
- Knowledge of affordable housing, tax credit calculations, HUD/RD programs, tenant eligibility, income limits, student status rules, rent restrictions, set-asides, utility allowances, and certification workflows.
- Ability to monitor compliance risks, prevent tax credit recapture, and apply LIHTC rules including Available Unit Rule, Vacant Unit Rule, Next Available Unit Rule, and transfer provisions.
- Familiarity with Federal LIHTC regulations, Tax Credit state agency requirements, agency reporting expectations, layered funding programs, and affordable housing operational processes.
- Knowledge of agency reporting platforms such as NAHMA, ProCorem, WBARS, or comparable compliance and reporting systems.
- Tax Credit Certification or comparable affordable housing compliance certification preferred.
- Experience with AI tools, AI-enabled product capabilities, automation, analytics, or workflow optimization is a plus.

- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience.
