Job Summary:
We're looking for a clear, precise communicator eager to take on a Product Owner role and help drive the evolution of the Northpointe Suite. This role is fundamentally about translating ambiguous stakeholder needs into structured written specifications, coordinating across engineering, design, and customer-facing teams, and documenting how the product should behave, applying specialized communication and analytical skills to a product organization. You'll work closely with engineering, design, and customer-facing teams to translate business needs into clear specs, manage backlog priorities, and help ship features that improve usability and operational efficiency. We're building product using AI-native workflows — spec-driven development, AI-assisted design, and AI-accelerated engineering — so this role is as much about how clearly you can write, structure, and communicate requirements as it is about the underlying technology. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to grow into a senior product ownership or product management role while working on problems that involve genuine complexity — not just surface-level feature requests.
Job Description:
What You'll Do
- Own and maintain a well-groomed backlog of clear, detailed written specs for your assigned product area, structured to be executed against directly by engineering and AI-assisted development tools
- Practice spec-driven development: turn ambiguous business needs into precise, structured specifications that reduce rework and back-and-forth
- Serve as the primary written and verbal communication bridge between engineering, design, support, and customer-facing teams — translating technical constraints into plain-language updates and business needs into structured requirements
- Collaborate with support, implementation, and sales teams to understand how the product performs in the field and where it's falling short, and synthesize that feedback into clear written findings
- Help maintain product documentation, release notes, and internal knowledge resources
- Use AI tools such as Claude Design (and similar AI-assisted design/product tools) to rapidly prototype, iterate on, and validate UI/UX concepts before they reach engineering
- Evaluate proposed changes for their impact on UI/UX consistency, usability, and adherence to design standards
- Identify opportunities to optimize existing workflows, reduce friction, and eliminate redundant steps for end users
- Continuously look for ways AI tooling can accelerate discovery, spec-writing, prototyping, and validation across the product lifecycle
- Partner with engineering to scope and prioritize work involving backend configuration and system logic — bringing clear written requirements rather than hands-on technical implementation
- Test and validate completed work against spec before release
- Support senior product owners and product managers on larger initiatives, roadmap planning, and stakeholder communication
What You Bring
- **Bachelor's degree in Communications, Business, or a related field** — this role requires the ability to research, analyze, and produce precise written specifications and stakeholder communications as its core function
- **1–3 years of experience** working in or around a SaaS product organization — as a product owner, business analyst, associate PM, implementation specialist, or similar role where you were close to the product
- **Strong written and verbal communication skills** — you can research ambiguous requests, interview stakeholders, and turn what you learn into clear, structured, actionable specs
- **Working knowledge of Spec-Driven Development** — you understand how to write specs precise enough to drive AI-assisted and human engineering work without constant clarification loops
- **Hands-on familiarity with AI-driven product development** — you've used AI tools like Claude Design (or comparable AI-assisted design/product tools) in your actual workflow, not just experimented with them
- A working knowledge of **UI/UX principles and standards** — you know what "good" looks like and can articulate why, even if you're not the designer
- Experience identifying and driving **workflow optimization** — you naturally look for the more efficient path and can make the case for it in writing
- Comfort working with tools like Jira, Confluence, or similar backlog/documentation systems
- A collaborative mindset — you work well with engineers, designers, and customer-facing teams without needing constant oversight
- Curiosity and a bias toward asking "why" before jumping to "how"
**Industry background is not a requirement.** We care far more about how you think about and communicate product problems — configuration complexity, UX standards, workflow efficiency, and how to put AI tools to work on them — than what vertical you came from.
## Nice to Have
- Exposure to enterprise or B2B SaaS products with configurable/rules-based logic
- Basic SQL or data literacy to explore product usage and support investigations
- Experience using AI coding/design assistants beyond Claude Design (e.g., other AI-native prototyping or spec-generation tools)
- Familiarity with wireframing or prototyping tools (Figma, Balsamiq, etc.)
## Why This Role
You'll be joining a lean, high-ownership product organization that has fully embraced AI-native ways of working — where spec-driven development and AI-assisted design tools like Claude Design aren't experiments, they're how we build. Decisions move fast, and the people closest to the problem are trusted to help solve it. If you're looking for a place where your input on configuration design, UX quality, and workflow efficiency will actually shape what gets built next — and where you'll be expected to put AI tools to real use rather than just talk about them — this is it.
