Job Summary

The Product Owner – Enterprise Data is a member of the Agile Team within Enterprise Data & Analytics. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in translating business needs into data-driven solutions that empower teams enterprise-wide. Bring your robust understanding of data best practices, to ensure that data products are accurate, secure, and scalable, while integrating well with downstream systems.

The Product Owner is responsible for defining and prioritizing  backlog items to streamline the execution of program priorities while maintaining the conceptual and technical integrity of the features for the team. This position will play a significant role in incremental value delivery and collaborates with the team to ensure that the story meets the definition of done.

This role is accountable for executing product strategy and vision by aligning business goals with customer needs and advocating for the end user. They balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution, and use data & feedback to continuously improve the product and ensure project success. Operating in an Agile environment is key to delivering high-value, high-quality solutions on time.

80% Execution & Delivery

  • Collaborates with Data Product Manager on feature creation and Program Backlog prioritization. Drives the decomposition of features into story maps and incremental value delivery. Responsible for the preparation and participation in PI Planning. Executes against the product roadmap and PI Priorities.
  • Accountable for the health and readiness of the team backlog, including new features, defects and technical debt. Collaborates with analysts & engineers to define and prioritize in the backlog. Manages and prioritizes the flow of work to ensure consistency of incremental value delivery.
  • Develops detailed user stories containing thorough and testable acceptance criteria, along with non-functional requirements. Validates story and feature completion and ensures adequate testing before release.
  • Owns risks to delivery, coordinating with internal and external teams to mitigate any risks.
  • Integrates user feedback and usability studies/research, to enhance user satisfaction.
  • Collaborates with Data Product Manager to analyze metrics and analytics to make data-informed decisions.
  • Keeps pulse on the customers, anticipates bottlenecks, makes tradeoffs, and takes acceptable risks to maximize the benefit for our customer and business.

20% Strategy & Planning

  • Develops a deep understanding of the customer, their needs and is a champion for the voice of the customer. Understands the role of a data platform in driving business value within a customer group.
  • Contributes to 12-18 month product roadmap and assists in prioritization of business features.
  • Owns the development and maintenance of a six-week prioritized, build ready backlog for one or more development teams.

Skills and Background You’ll Need

EDUCATION: A High School Diploma or GED is required. A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Information Technology or a related field is preferred.

EXPERIENCE: 5 years in a Product Owner (or like) role working within an Agile environment in addition to progressive experience in providing business analysis in employee benefits, financial services, technology delivery, or other related fields. 2 years of experience in data engineering, data analysis, business intelligence, and/or data best practices.

  • Professional licensure or certification: CSPO, ICP-APO, POPM,  SAFe 5/6, APM SAFe 5/6 is preferred.
  • Proficiency with the following programs/tools is preferred: Databricks, Python, Jira, Confluence, SQL querying, PowerBI, understanding of ETL pipeline, and statistical software.  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including active listening and effective presentation of ideas. Ability to communicate with a wide range of cross-functional team members and leaders.
  • Must excel working in team-oriented roles that rely on collaborating with others.
  • Must exhibit strong consumer instincts, intuitively understands why product ideas will succeed. Experience with hypothesis-driven learning and turning data into actionable insights. Exhibits bias-to-action and avoids analysis-paralysis. Willing to take informed risks/
  • Ability to separate what must be done now, and what can be improved later.

  • Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on a variety of factors including individual and organizational performance.

The actual compensation for this role will be based on a combination of education and experience, knowledge and skills, position budget, internal equity, and market data.

Salary Range:

$109,750.00 - $186,500.00
