Robots & Pencils is seeking an outcome-oriented Product Owner to define and deliver high-impact, agentic AI systems in a real-world logistics environment. You’ll work embedded with a cross-functional team across the full product lifecycle, from definition and prioritization through production delivery and scale.
You will own product execution for a voice-enabled, on-device AI co-pilot running on Android fleet tablets. The system must proactively diagnose device and connectivity issues, integrate with ELD systems, orchestrate troubleshooting workflows, and guide drivers safely, even in low-connectivity environments.
You’ll partner closely with engineering, design, and operational stakeholders to translate logistics challenges into structured agent behaviors and measurable business outcomes.
What You’ll Do
Product Definition & Backlog Ownership
- Own and manage the product backlog, ensuring work is clearly defined and aligned to operational outcomes
- Translate fleet operations and driver pain points into structured user stories and acceptance criteria
- Define agent behaviors across diagnostics, scheduling support, and ELD-integrated workflows
- Balance near-term delivery milestones with long-term platform scalability and maintainability
- Maintain visibility into scope, dependencies, risks, and architectural constraints
Agentic AI Workflow Direction
- Define how agent planning loops and tool-execution workflows should behave in production
- Shape requirements for RAG knowledge systems to ensure grounded and accurate driver guidance
- Establish guardrails to ensure predictable, safe AI behavior in safety-sensitive environments
- Simplify complex AI capabilities into intuitive, step-by-step in-cab interactions
- Prioritize effectively in environments where agent architecture and capabilities continue to evolve
Delivery & Engineering Partnership
- ·Work closely with engineers building Android applications, backend services (Python), AI runtimes, and voice systems
- Align product decisions with constraints such as offline-first architecture, edge inference, and connectivity limitations
- Participate actively in planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
- Remove ambiguity quickly and keep execution on track
- Support phased rollout and production release coordination
Operational Alignment & Business Impact
- Serve as a key product contact for fleet IT, operations, and driver support stakeholders
- Translate system behaviors (agent workflows, telemetry diagnostics, voice interactions) into clear business language
- Align roadmap priorities to measurable outcomes such as reduced support escalation and improved device uptime
- Facilitate alignment when tradeoffs arise between usability, safety, and technical feasibility
- Drive clarity across multi-stakeholder environments with evolving requirements
Platform & System Awareness
You are not expected to code, but you must understand the systems you are prioritizing, including:
- Agentic AI workflows and planning loops
- RAG-based knowledge systems
- Voice interfaces (speech-to-text and text-to-speech)
- Android device ecosystems and mobile telemetry
- Offline-first architecture and degraded-connectivity handling
- API integrations with ELD/HOS systems
- Fleet management platforms
- MDM deployments and connectivity diagnostics
Required Skills & Experience
- 5–7 years of experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or similar role in a software delivery environment
- Experience supporting technically complex digital products (mobile, backend, cloud, or AI-enabled systems)
- Strong understanding of agile delivery practices and backlog ownership
- Technical fluency and comfort collaborating closely with engineering teams
- Experience using tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, GitHub, and Figma
- Ability to prioritize under evolving technical constraints
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
How You Work
- Outcome-oriented and delivery-focused
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity without losing clarity
- Strong at translating operational problems into structured product requirements
- Safety-minded when defining in-cab user experiences
- Accountable and disciplined in backlog management
- Clear communicator across technical and non-technical stakeholders
Why This Role Matters
At Robots & Pencils, we build smart systems for the human world. This role directly shapes how agentic AI supports commercial drivers in live operational environments. The platform must monitor device health, integrate with compliance systems, and proactively guide drivers, without adding complexity or distraction. You will help define how autonomous AI systems behave in the field, ensuring they deliver measurable operational value while remaining simple, reliable, and predictable. This is a production delivery with real-world impact.
