Reporting to the Senior Channel Marketing Manager, Client Experience Office (CXO), the Product Marketing Manager is responsible for leading the development and execution of product marketing strategies for Sun Life Global Investments payout annuities, accumulation annuities, GICs, segregated and mutual funds for the Retail channel as well as supporting the Channel Marketing Team. This includes working closely with several product management teams to maintain and help build marketing support for the business lines including marketing material (presentations, brochures, websites & videos) and other product & Channel initiatives.

In fulfilling the role, the Product Marketing Manager will work closely with various teams including close collaboration with Product management, Compliance, Channel marketing, National accounts, Retail sales, Digital Marketing, Design and Creative and the Investment Communications team as appropriate with the objective of delivering effective and high-quality marketing support.

What will you do ?

  • Work closely with Product Management, Sales, Digital Marketing, National Accounts and Compliance to ensure a consolidated and fully integrated approach to product marketing that helps achieve the business objectives and sales goals.
  • Develop an in-depth and ongoing knowledge of Sun Life Global Investments & Sun Life product line-ups and overall industry trends.
  • Conceptualize charts and PPT visuals working with partners to deliver thoughtful product positioning to maximize sales opportunities.
  • Create, lead, own, and manage the development and execution of all product marketing strategies including tactical strategies, updates, new marketing materials and landing pages (web) for products in collaboration with Product Management and Sales.
  • Support the execution of Channel campaigns to drive unique client experiences and support business objectives.
  • Support other functions related to Product and Channel team (quarterly collateral assessment, dashboard updates, product shelf updates).
  • Build and maintain annual product marketing plan for solutions assigned.
  • Help build go to market plans for new product launches.
  • Develop relationships with the Retail Sales & Product teams and solicit feedback to help measure successes and identify areas for improvement with regards to marketing initiatives.
  • Identify measures of success (i.e. sales, assets, requests, etc.).

What will you need to succeed ?

  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce, Finance, or Marketing
  • 5+ years of investment product marketing, product management and/or operations
  • Experience in the financial services industry
  • Previous experience as a product manager or product analyst/specialist considered an asset
  • Solid understanding of investment products
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with others
  • Professional & tactful in client dealings
  • Keen ability to influence and accomplish work through other people and functional departments
  • Ability to assimilate information from a variety of sources and make recommendations
  • High proficiency in MS Office PowerPoint, Excel, Marketing automation software and Word

Preferred skills

  • Previous experience within the financial services industry, specifically the investment area, a must
  • Demonstrated ability to develop product marketing strategies and positioning that ultimately contributes to an increase in sales.
  • Ability to multi-task several projects at the same time
  • Excellent creative writing and communication skills
  • Self-confident and strong ability to work effectively and independently within tight deadlines, adapt to changing deadlines and ability to prioritize multiple deliverables within a cross-functional team environment with a variety of reporting levels and varying skills/competencies
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Flexible individual with creative problem-solving & strong analytical skills
  • Ability to confidently build relationships and effectively engage with junior colleagues through to senior executives.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
