Our Why
Datacom works with organisations and communities across Australia and New Zealand to make a difference in people’s lives and help organisations use the power of tech to innovate and grow.
About the Role (Your Why)
We’re looking for an experienced Product Manager to join our team and take ownership of a large product or portfolio of products, with a focus on driving revenue, growth, and market impact. You’ll work with a diverse team of professionals to manage the entire product life cycle — from strategic planning through to tactical execution — all while collaborating across sales, marketing, and professional services to ensure continued success. You will be working in the Datascape team, which provides Enterprise software to Councils throughout Australia and New Zealand. In this role, you will work in our Revenue & Core team which includes Property & Rating, Utility Billing, Contacts management and more. We’re in an exciting phase, experiencing rapid growth.
Our offices are based in Auckland, Tauranga, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and more. We like to bring people together in person when we can, but we are mindful of the benefits of working from home for work/life balance. We therefore leave it to you and the team you join to figure out what works best!
What You'll Do
As Product Manager you will be focused on:
- Developing and driving business case for enhancements to product offerings and delivery models to maximise growth.
- Leading the full product lifecycle — from strategic planning to tactical execution.
- Collaborate with the Product Management team to perform quarterly and annual planning.
- Performing backlog grooming to ensure we’re always ready to tackle the next highest value-add piece of capability.
- Directing and implementing product modifications to maximise revenue, growth, and customer satisfaction.
- Liaising with internal stakeholders across sales, marketing, support, and professional services to support and enhance product delivery.
- Identifying new market opportunities and analysing competitor activities.
- Breaking down complex and ambiguous issues and requirements, translating them into actionable change we can prioritise and deliver.
- Leveraging Artificial Intelligence to accelerate development through requirements refinement, creation of mocks, generating documentation and more.
- Promoting a strong health and safety culture in line with Datacom policies.
We are an agile company and are keen to respond to customer, technology, and internal stakeholders’ changing requirements — this means we often evolve our roles to meet those needs.
What You'll Bring
- 5+ years of commercial product management experience.
- Ideally experience in Local Government, FinTech, or working with large, complex Enterprise software.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams.
- Strong business acumen with an understanding of the relationship between costs, utilisation, and revenue.
- Excellent stakeholder communication and influencing abilities.
- Experience in the IT or technology services sector.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, IT, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to work within large, collaborative teams to deliver innovation.
- Proven analytical, problem-solving, and consultative planning skills.
- Experience using Artificial Intelligence within Product Management or the Software Development Lifecycle.
