This position is responsible for leading and executing initiatives in the Aerospace and OE Interior product lines within Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes Division. In this role, the Product Manager has primary 
responsibility for strategic product development, positioning, and life cycle management of the product lines used within the Aerospace and OE Interior segments.  The Product Manager must partner with Segment team to assess voice of customer, primarily to determine growth opportunity in line with the needs of the business as it relates to manufacturing capability, gross margins, and profitability. Must work with Marketing functions and cross-functionally with respective Marketing, Sales, Finance, R&D and Operations teams to ensure successful planning and execution of all programs.

This role will report to Sherwin-Williams Global Headquarters located at 1 Sherwin Way, Cleveland, OH 44113.
 

Responsibilities
  1. PRODUCT LIFECYCLE MANAGEMENT

  • Develops new products within the specified line while working closely with Segment and cross-functional teams to achieve Company objectives

  • New product commercialization through established stage gate process

  • Monitor competitive product assortments, strategy, pricing, strengths and weaknesses, as well as trends in the industry

  • Research and determine end user need for assigned product lines. This will require input from Segment leaders, the field sales organization, and customer travel

  • Manage life cycle of assigned products and develop plans to deal with obsolescence

  • Analyze and lead SKU rationalization of assigned products

  • Execute plans and projects on time and on budget

 

  1. FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Prepare financial budgets for assigned products through costing analysis with the Finance lead(s)

  • Monitor costs associated with product/brand

  • Deliver sales and profit within product category managed

 

  1. COMMUNICATION AND TRAINING

  • Develop product specific training in partnership with appropriate training team

  • Provide product training for customers and consumers

  • Assist development of sales tools including training manuals, catalogs, price lists, and brochures

     

  1. STRATEGY AND DEVELOPMENT

  • Develop and deliver long-term brand plan and strategy

  • Align product offering to be a simplified offering meeting market demands while minimizing total sku count to the extent possible

  • Additional duties required as assigned

 

 

 


 

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION:  
Required: 
•     Bachelor’s degree or 10+ years of experience 
Preferred: 
•     Bachelor’s degree in Marketing 
•    MBA 
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE: 
Required: 
•    3 – 5 years of prior experience in Marketing, Sales, Business and/or Product development 
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills  
Preferred: 
•    Prior aerospace or OEM industry experience 
•    Foundational understanding of coatings technology  
•    Understanding of marketing mix, including Product, Place, Pricing, Promotion, and Placement 
•    Strategic thinking and analytical skills 

TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS: 
Required: 
•     Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 suite 
Preferred: 
•    Experience with data visualization through Tableau or other like applications
